Low: Generic on ebay, $125 including head
Medium: Manfrotto (I paid $400 for a used one, $650 new)
High: You wouldn't be asking ;-)

I like my Manfrotto carbon tripod. I got it used in new condition for hundreds less than it cost new.
That said, I have a named no-name carbon tripod I got from ebay that has held up well and cost a fraction of the Manfrotto. Much lighter, just not nearly as sturdy (but fine for most things, including night photography, just not great for windy days)

- the stand on the string and bolt to your camera trick actually works pretty well for 1/8th to 1/40th shutter speeds....vaxorcist

Manfrotto. Gitzo's are really expensive, light and great for traveling, but Manfrotto if you just need a home heavy duty worker tripod.
If you want cheaper, you can probably find them used on ebay. Just watch out you don't pinch your fingers on some of those older tripods.

cheap, good, lightweight (pick one or two)
Manfrotto or Gitzo... can be used.. some Calumet tripods are good too.... For the head, it's a matter of personal preference, but I really LOVE this sort of head...
Almost any manfrotto leg set over $100 is pretty good, and you can fix used almost all used manfrotto's with a couple of allen wrenches. I don't love gitzo, but some people do, as the legs require two hands.
If you don't mind insanely heavy, but insanely sturdy and insanely cheap for what you get, a used old Majestic tripod on Ebay may be good... I got one for $50 + $20 shipping.

My current camera tripod is garbage and I'm tired of dealing with it.
I'm looking for something more middle of the road price wise. I'm not going out on location anywhere and I don't need mega precise leveling or anything. I just want something sturdy that's not a piece of shit.
