"We are excited to announce that membership to the Adobe Creative Cloud will be available in the first half of 2012 at a price of $49.99 per month for individuals and $69.99 per month per seat for workgroups, both for an annual plan."
So, this means you need to pay a whole year in advance to get that price, right?

I don't disagree that the latest versions are not bloated as hell and many of the older versions run faster for some simple task. But the position I am in, we get a fare amount of projects sent to us that always seem to be the latest version, so we never have much of a choice as to upgrade or not.
so if I want to take something home and work on it instead of an empty office...this option certainly seems more feasible for me, then trying to keep up with the latest version at home so i can take files back and forth.
Not to mention almost every time I upgrade, if i have the option I uninstall the old version and install the new version...now i have the old version sitting in a box somewhere.

just heard from Adobe, that it will work offline.
- That's secret code for "I just got a license on Pirate's Bay".fyoucher1
- It only calls home once a month, was that a secret?raf
- this was never a secret, sherlock, no software would require you to have internet to work, that's just stupidmonospaced

I think its fantastic. Each month it literally pays for itself in an hour of use if you're billing properly.

$70 for two apps? I'm paying $53.xx and get all of them...definitely worth it to me.
- That's wonderful, thanks for rubbing the Atlantic Price Differential in my face!detritus

The only reason I updated is because I'm sick of getting CC files I couldn't open in CS6.
yup. really no reason to update otherwise. the vast majority of people don't even know what is new on updated software. Let's face it, they limit saving down to force customers to update.
updates are coming faster every year and the terms and conditions are becoming longer
- yup, not being able to open a clients file was my trigger, I wasn't about to tell the client "im outdated"moldero
- They have to save the .idmlmonospaced

Maybe I'm just not understanding, but I've been on CS4 since it came out, and I haven't had a single reason to need to upgrade since then. I use Photoshop and Illustrator only. At $100 a month ($50 a month per app), that means I would have spent $2400 by now. I will easily continue on CS4 for another year, possibly two, putting the price point for Adobe CSCloud™ between $3600 and $4800, when I originally paid just under $1000 for CS4 Premium.
Yes, I am sure some people will say "You could have the newest versions though," but I have gotten by just fine without anything I don't have from CS5 or 5.5.

I don't think for one minute that Adobe is doing this to make it easier for people to keep using perfectly adequate but old versions of their software...

sweet deal, in my opinion

$50... where's the trap?
No internet = no job ?- doesn't require internet except to download the initial softwaremonospaced
- yo need to connect once a month. then they work offline for the rest of the month.uan
- the trap is that they get the customers who don't want to pay $2K + $500/yr for upgrades... lots of people like me, for examplemonospaced
- like me, for example, will now be paying customersmonospaced
