It's about 4x my mobile phone bill, monospaced, and we have it more expensive here in Europe, so I'm paying around $70 a month for two pieces of software.
Of course it's affordable in a business context — but what I absolutely resent is being tied-into an upgrade pattern that I would never have willingly entered into were I still able to buy hard copies every 2, 3, 4, etc years.
Again - from my perspective, I've already bought all the functionality I need from this software, many years ago, but I'm locked into a repeated forced upgrade path because of their file formats' 'planned obsolescence'.
- which an amazingly effective business modelprophetone
- which an is amazing can haz? i meanprophetone
- I know, if I held their shares, I'd be quite pleased with their arm-twisting. Thankfully, I'm not an utter, utter cunt.detritus
- ..Well, not that way, any way.detritus
- your mobile payment is $18?monospaced
- Actually less than that, yes - I mainly use it for texting, emails and GMaps. I use a landline quite heavily though.detritus
- You probably have most of your work calls paid for by your employer, right?detritus
- ..er, although there are times like this month, where I've been in Italy, where it shoots up when I forget to turn data offdetritus
- So I end up paying $60+ just to download fucking emails, that I wanted to ignore anyway, hahadetritus
- I could have a free phone plan through work, but I don't want them to "own" my phone and datamonospaced
- and own your time. They'd love to call you every time they want to know what you put on your waffles.CyBrainX

rusty_ace:"I really don't understand the need to own a version of software...what does it gain you to own a physical copy, of outdated code, stored on a disk, that is just collecting dust and wasting space."
that tool continues to work even after the new version comes out. I've got an old copy of PS7 at home that I find I rarely need/want features from CS5.5. I've got an even older copy of PS5.5 that I could probably get by with. and Illustrator 7 - it flies on modern hardware.
$600/yr is pretty nice for Adobe, but for me, I'd rather invest that capital once and have the option of running with the tool I know and trust, and only upgrading when features warrant it.
Case in point - I'm pretty disappointed with my recent upgrade form CS3 -> CS5.5. I've gone back to using CS3 since 5.5 seems unstable.
- I dumped my CS3 software with my recent upgrade to Cs5.5 (which cost me 1k) and wish I had not.Josev

Finally! I was considering their subscriptions for awhile, but it was close to $40 per application, so that would mean spending almost $200/month to use the suite. Now that it's $50 for the whole thing, it makes perfect sense (especially because I only need it for side freelancing).
- Me too, seems like a really good price point, and you get 20G of cloud space...i want to see more detailsrusty_ace

I think a lot of enterprise software licensing is eventually going to go this route.
There's nothing in this article about the nitty-gritty of the 'flexibility' of the Creative Cloud. My guess is that it would utilize a token-based system where you exchange a token for the service(s) you require. The only problem with this is that tokens are ultimately limited because you only get so many of them to use at a time - and that's the catch 22.

- ItalianStallion0
€59,03 a month for a year subscription or €88,55 month by month.
Are they crazy?
- cheaper than buying and upgrading every few monthsmonospaced
- licensce still allows for 2 computers to run the software, + you get the mac&pc version.uan
- new versions aren't mac/pc anymore, actuallymonospaced
