really sad. she was a huge advocate for getting superpipe skiing at the olympics, and she was two years shy of seeing it there for the first time. a heavy favourite going in.

^^What is it too soon to raise money to help Sarah's family?
Just curious.

Funny you mention that you think her sponsor should pay. I was thinking the same thing but thought Smith Helmets should pay. I know these athletes are going bigger and harder than ever but this is the second Smith sponsored rider to die in the past few seasons (C. R. Johnson '10). I'm not blaming Smith or saying their product is inferior but I think sometimes helmets give a person a false sense of security.

I don't necessarily think it's the helmets fault. Pipes are getting bigger and bigger every year. They're not like skate ramps made of wood, that have some bounce to them to absorb the shock. The ice is harder than concrete. Unless they wear motorcycle helmets, there's not much they can do.

Very unfortunate.
Live by the sword, die by the sword; I road cycle & every time I get on my bike my chance of dying skyrockets. This is the way it always was, is and will be and is part of the thrill of any sport, especially that of an extreme nature...

Regarding her bill, our taxes should pay for it instead of going to war.

It's great that she donated her organs. More people should do that.

That is very sad,
and can someone tell me how a 9 day bill can come up to half a million dollar,
there's something seriously wrong with the US healthcare system,
