how good's their portfolio? will they be client facing? is this person someone who could be groomed and mentored? was he intelligent in the rest of his interview? i'm with everyone else here in saying that i'd certainly be hesitant, but if there's potential there, i wouldn't outright disqualify him.

As ksv123 hinted, they not only have ethically/morally skewed ideas about helping out their fellow man, but they also lack a proper sensitivity filter, which would absolutely land your ass in hot water with clients, one way or another. Not a matter of if, but when.

other side of the argument is "better the devil you know than the one you dont"... but it'd be hard to put up with that kind of devil...

for the record, no he was not ignorant at the interview, he was ignorant with me when it was the "eat lunch with the intern and try to impress her with my cockiness" time.
- he was hitting on you with stupidity. that's classy. did he mention hitler was his uncle?zenmasterfoo
- yeah man. :)********
- funny story, when i was 12 living in AZ, there was a girl whos mom claimed to be hitlers neicemoldero
- her daughter had a psycho crush on me, when i rejected her, i was scared.moldero
- now im going to google to see if hitler even had any siblingsmoldero
- google says their all dead, man the crap you believe when your a kid, jesus.moldero
- i bet if i call my mom to ask it will end up being "hitlers, sisters, cousins, lesbian lovers, former roomate's, great grand daughter."moldero

Personally, if they were good, I'd still consider hiring them. I'd explain quite frankly that they share an unpopular opinion in the office and that his/her discretion with such a sensitive subject would be prudent. Most understand the workplace isn't the right place for political or religious discourse.

You're just mad because he's man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn!
You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science baby.... lol i kid, i kid.No, seriously have you considered reporting him to HR?
or better yet next time someone says something like that speak your mind and put that sucka in his place ;)
off you go.
*slap dat ass

My advice,
do not work with sociopath, they will rot you from the inside with their know it all stupidity!

In some places, that kind of talk would actually be against anti-discimination in the workplace laws. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot by saying things like that.
- bingo - amazed this wasn't brought up earlier. Outright racism.d_rek
- what? i said report to HR. pppfffssssssssssssss...sofakingbanned

If this was day one lunch conversation imagine what he's got saved up for the next.

I usually wait until the 2nd paycheck before I start with the racist epithets, its a good policy.

Unless he WAS JAPANESE.
Mind blown.

maybe the guy was just fucking with you for asking a dumb question in a interview. seeing how you respond and if its even worth working there
- randommail0
Why would you want ignorance on your payroll.
This business is hard enough as it is.
Frankly, I'm surprised this is even a question.
- ukit0
- Distinct possibility on both counts. Personally, I smell Hedge.Continuity

If the designer is a WW2 vet and set in his ways, maybe you can look the other way? Somehow I doubt this is the case though.
- duhsign0
honestly dskz I would really have to see your photo to accurately gauge the significance of his/her comments. could be so many things...
- Miesfan0
How old is he?
Do you think you can teach something to him?
Do you think he could learn?
What about life?
From your position of moral superiority you should do something. Someone like him should not go loose.- I like your thinking. But I am no teacher. Not yet. tee hee.********
