I caught the two-hour pilot and second episode to this new series, and I have to say, I'm riveted. It's gearing up to be the best show I've seen since The Wire. This might be AMC's best work so far with the most real characters and true emotion I've seen in a crime drama.
Thoughts?

Recently got caught up in the original Danish version and found it really compelling. So much so I watched 8½ hours back to back whilst failing to multitask productively (i often watch crap at weekends whilst working.. not really an easy thing to achieve where subtitles are involved..).

BUT Wire has so much more going on. This show just delays for drama.

Watching now.. Comparing to The Wire (5 seasons-60 episodes) with just 2 episodes in.. is quite a bold statement sir..
Will give crit shortly...
- Yeah. It's bold. Agreed. We will have to wait and see.monospaced

So far im interested but too early to give a real good review. I'll keep watching it and see what unfolds. And dude said this was picked up from a danish series? didnt know that

I feel like I'm being conned into thinking the main detective's partner is being portrayed as dumb half-wit detective only to reveal later that he is a genius. Like how Det. Roland "Prez" Pryzbylews was first introduced on The Wire.
So far it's good and I do see The Wire comparisons but it's still to early to tell.

Loving this show. Finally got a chance to watch it last night and the night before. I think the "acting" is really good, if a bit dead-pan. Obviously, it's the director's intent for the show to feel a bit slow moving.
I am interested to see how this plays out across multiple seasons. Are they planning to do a murder per season or something?
- apparently it's 1 day per episode...supposed to digest it slowlymonospaced
- yes, one case per season. Also, notice one episode = one day.DRIFTMONKEY
- what mono said.DRIFTMONKEY
- I didn't even notice the one day per episode thing, but I did see "Day One" on the first episode, it just didnt register.dMullins

AMC is right there with HBO nowadays.
Or did HBO fall off?
I did not like Entourage at all.- I don't know if that's a fair assessment. AMC has Mad Men and this. What else?dMullins
- Though I must say that HBO does seem to have fallen off a bit.dMullins
- AMC has Breaking Bad (AMAZING) and The Walking Dead, which are both worth watchingmonospaced
- in my opinion, both are better than Mad Menmonospaced

Just watched all four episodes last night and finished about 3:15am. Couldn't stop watching; i was hooked from the first 5 minutes in.

This is like Walking Dead to me..... 60 minutes of TV for 3 minutes of plot

It's good, but the last episode was a bit "meh" and it's miles away from the Wire in terms of characters and realism.

Also, this should have been set in Vancouver.

Yeah it's obvious watching that it's not set in Seattle like it claims to be...although this is true about a lot of shows

Living in Seattle myself, all shows "taking place" here show it pouring rain... it almost never pours rain in Seattle. Way to research location...
- except last night.silentseven
- I guess it only pours rain when I go there? EVERYTIME?zarkonite
