I'd like it if delivery was in the form of an algorithm that can be used to generate a unique mark (using the system). Maybe this is what they did?

"The logo is based on a visual system, an algorithm that produces a unique logo for each person, for faculty, staff and students...
...A custom web interface was developed to allow each person at the Media Lab to choose and claim an own individual logo for his/her business card, as well as a custom animation soſtware which allows to create custom animations for any video content the lab produces."
very sweet and fitting for MIT.

Or an offshoot of this
http://www.underconsideration.co…I'd be keen to see the implementation but they haven't got it on their site, where did you source that image?

"Expected," imo.

It works well on all of the materials. When used in presentations it animates. The black boxes move around the grid, dragging the overlapping color shapes. I think they unveiled it for their anniversary last fall. I think I kept business cards/stationery and print materials from the celebration, I'll try to post if I can find them.

From a conversation with a friend who works at a very well-known design firm,
"...we started doing this because we found out that clients are usually wowed and distracted by these variations...'He said it in a very cynical tone. I smirked in understanding.

The animations are in a video on the page Miesfan linked in his post above. They move more slowly than shown in the video. They made a bunch of cool totes and a watch for the anniversary, too (which I grabbed).

"So many logos for the price of just one.. well, probably the price of quite a few logos".
