"Saying that "neither side surrenders its view of the law," the Associated Press nonetheless writes that there's been a settlement in its copyright infringement lawsuit against artist Shephard Fairey over his "Hope" poster that took on iconic status during the 2008 presidential campaign..."

So works out for everyone,
"The two sides have also agreed to work together going forward with the Hope image and share the rights to make the posters and merchandise bearing the Hope image and to collaborate on a series of images that Fairey will create based on AP photographs. The parties have agreed to additional financial terms that will remain confidential."
I swear he does this intentionally.

"neither side surrenders its view of the law"
Too bad. Isn't the value of cases like this to figure out which view of the law is correct? Now I'm thinking maybe it's OK to trace an AP photo and sell it, maybe not.
- I know right?mtgentry
- Its OK because you can work out lucrative merchandising deals and get commissioned for more work!Dodecahedron

'The AP's copyright infringement lawsuit against Obey Clothing, the marketer of apparel with the Hope image, remains ongoing.'
