i agree with Utopian. doesn't matter. but I'd suggest to bring something to leave behind. do something fun that will stay on their desk as a reminder. I did a coffee mug a long time ago for places i went for interviews. A few people still use them and we keep in contact and this is years ago. I also dropped cash on actual coins, expensive, but fuck, that kept them talking to me at the end. so yeah, leave something fun behind for them as a thank you for their time. hope that helps

Works great. Definitely get/bring an iPad, and DEFINITELY do not rely on them having an open wifi connection or good cell reception in their office. Load your content before hand so you can quickly pull it up with no problems, no hunting for passwords, etc. A bluetooth keyboard can be nice to tab through stuff while they hold it.. . that way you don't put your sweaty fingers all over it.
- Yup, looks pretty sad when you are waiting for connections or downloadsformed

I've had a friend's iPad with me during an interview but since I had only a bunch of JPGs to show and a PDF, printed pages would have done the job, too.

I took an iPad to an interview recently and one of the panel (a developer) said "yeah, but what if we're doing something for Android?"...
...tool.

I may get an ipad mini in the future incase I have something specific to show. I really don't want to lug around my laptop.

3D glasses does the trick for my interviews.

whenever I've shown up to an interview they've already seen my work, they're interested, and want to talk to me directly. I've never really had to present my work. Only in one case I had to present my stuff (and that's because stupid HR just called in anyone who applied and met requirements).
- Same here. But one time I whipped out my iPad Mini and it really helped the discussion.arthur

It's been almost 3 years since I've gone to an interview, ...getting out of the Consultancy and into a full time gig...
Anything other than my laptop (and resume) that I need to bring? Though I don't think so.
Are iPads a must these days?
- I wouldn't say they are a "must" unless you're showing stuff you designed for use on the iPadmonospaced
- Just bring your work in the best way you think it should be shared in-person.monospaced
- correction *gone to an interview in person. I've skyped and used GoToMeeting to show my screen.ohhhhhsnap

The bottom line Wade...
If you have really good work and you are talented it does not matter how you present your work!

good I say, easier to pass around than a laptop. Take the originals / prints too to show how the work translates to print

Sounds like a gimmick.

As long as your not showing any work with Flash in it, I can not see the harm in using the iPad to present your work. If you decide to use the iPad be sure to utilize the fullscreen and make a customized slideshow of your work.

I bought one back in the summer specifically for an interview with Waste Management to showcase identity, web, and interactive. I was offered the job that day. I ended up turning it down to focus on my company. I still use it during client presentations, and they seem to enjoy it and ask several questions about it. For others in the meeting, it's an icebreaker "how do you like your iPad, etc..".

Using or showing up with an hanging pad,
can see 50 reasons why it will go bad...

I saw a kid interview at my work with an ipad to showcase his print work..bad idea.
For interactive/video i dont see the harm in it.
