Sounds like a gimmick.

good I say, easier to pass around than a laptop. Take the originals / prints too to show how the work translates to print

The bottom line Wade...
If you have really good work and you are talented it does not matter how you present your work!

If dealing with a digital image industry, I'd say it's good. Shit has to look good online just as much as on paper these days. It may not be ideal to go in with just an iPad, but a book and an iPad seems like a good idea. And if half way thru the interview you get the feeling they would turn their nose up at an iPad, you simply don't present it.

Are your banners Flash?
I hate Jobs' shiny stupid toy. I would bring a laptop, since that's what you can actually do work on.However, if you want to bring an iPad, you can use Cloudbrowse to view Flash or iTeleport as a VNC to show Flash.

Might be tough if you're presenting to a room and you have to pass it around (versus a projector)

Good Idea. Have your portfolios in iBooks

It's been almost 3 years since I've gone to an interview, ...getting out of the Consultancy and into a full time gig...
Anything other than my laptop (and resume) that I need to bring? Though I don't think so.
Are iPads a must these days?
- I wouldn't say they are a "must" unless you're showing stuff you designed for use on the iPadmonospaced
- Just bring your work in the best way you think it should be shared in-person.monospaced
- correction *gone to an interview in person. I've skyped and used GoToMeeting to show my screen.ohhhhhsnap

if you are a web designer, the iPad is probably your worst enemy.
If they asked you to show them an actual functioning website you might be in trouble.I'd say stick to the laptop. If you plan to have everything arranged in some sort of photo sequence that you can flick while talking, then this might be a good idea, I see it better for a photographer
- Good point. If you develop for iPad, then it would be appropriate. For designers, it's just limiting.CyBrain
