LOL, thanks again JSK. I should have just given you my credit card and had you buy this for me. I am going to roll with the 3100 body, and the 1.4f lens, and the 4GB Lexar 133x.
Wish my luck in breaking this thing. I'm really really stoked about having a real camera again (read: not an iPhone camera).

FWIW, I got the 450D (before it got its Rebel badge) and a kit lens, and I really like it. Obviously, I'll want to invest in better lenses in the future (when I'm actually earning a salary), but for a start I'm thoroughly enjoying it,

^ This having been said, if I had one major complaint, it's the extreme amount of low-light noise, no matter how much I tweak the settings.

Heh now that I have my s90 i don't miss the DSLR all that much. Apples to oranges yes but so great always having a camera on hand.

I still miss a nice DSLR even with my rangefinders.

- Not really, you can get a small set up for quite cheap. Just not Leica.********

re: extreme card price...
It only matters if you are shooting RAW format in High Speed.
Lesser cards can get choked up if the write speed isn't up to par with the (frame rate X size of image (expressed in MB)).
