What do you mean about the design doing the opposite?
Also, nothing wrong with being on trend and doing advertising work.
- i mean it co-opts arabic calligraphy as a style and talks about respecting culture.cannonball1978
- nut no, nothing wrong with being on trendcannonball1978
- *But. not nutcannonball1978
- Cannon are you suggesting that muslims don't respect other cultures?SeriousFreelancing
- Obviously he's not suggesting that - why? what are you thinking?detritus
- are you suggesting only muslims write in arabic?cannonball1978
- This was actually a piece commissioned by a Muslim person.110

cannonball1978: So what is "not following style trend", any examples? or your own person work? ... and what is "advertising crowd? so easy to criticize... but wow you sounds like you know everything.
- haha i know!!!110
- Advertising crowd are people who work in advertising agencies. Sorry I wasn't clear.cannonball1978
- And yes. I criticize. He asked me what I thought.cannonball1978

I hate some of you people.
110, I think your t-shirts designs are rad as fuck. You could easily shop your stuff around to some agencies and let them know that you're looking for more editorial/ad work on the side.
No one can tell you what to do with your talents. Do what feels right for you. I think you could cut your teeth on some ad work here and there, and find out slowly if it's right for you.
I'd buy this shirt if I wasn't broke from buying a new DSLR...
- Thanks man! It's for sale on Karmaloop for only $25 =) http://www.karmaloop…110

i think "other" work needs to move above caligraphy (in fact, in my opinion the caligraphy work could be pieced within the other work). it would also be nice to show the shirt graphics alone (ie. not on the shirt) as a second image (maybe an on rollover it swaps from pic of tshirt on model to stand-alone graphic).
you got a ton of tshirt work, and some is much better than others (this is purely subjective of course), so i think some editing could be made.
the site itself is simple/clean and does it's job quickly (shows us the work. loads quickly. breaks it down into quick digestible chunks) however, i think you could lose the live twitter feed. maybe it just becomes a link to your twitter like the link to your blog.
my 2 cents that you can take or leave. nice work.

Yah the load was clean and snappy.

- Hey Indentity! Yeah I used to work in Ogilvy One for 5 years here in my country. I used to be an Interactive Art Director but got tired of the whole web thing. What do you do?110
- well, good to meet you!
Your calligraphy work is great - I'm enviousidentity - 110's post continued - "got tired of the whole web thing. What do you do?"Hombre_Lobo
- im at Ogilvy Chicago's 485 brand group. Small group. We do mostly brand/ID work. It's a lot of fun!identity
- Brand/ID work sounds like fun. The Ogilvy here doesn't have that capability.110

really like it!
i think you have some very nice work, and lots of it.
Site is simple and loads surprisingly quick!I think the t-shirt illustrations shown off t-shirt would probably look stronger. Showing both (side by side maybe) would be ideal though.
I personally think the calligraphy section brings down the quality of your site, maybe its the presentation, im not sure. Ive never tried it so i dont know how difficult it is so bare that in mind. Others may be astounded by it.
I would also reduce the amount of t-shirts down for 2 reasons. To keep the quality level high and to maintain attention.
You have some really nice t-shirt designs and a few mediocre ones. I would only put on your best on there, maybe limit it to 30/40.
Thats what id do if it were me. As for some saying that you are following trends, dont worry, that's fine as long as you know it may be a trend and what impression that might give.
Nice work dude! :)
- Thanks man! Some really solid advice! You and lvl_13 give some pointers that I just might do up. I could also have the calligraphy as part of the 'other' work. What shirts do you think i should keep/remove? Maybe I could add a section called archive for older t-shirts.110

great - stick to t-shirts
- cannonball19780
Oh you know, rainbows. The ironic wolf. Stuff about obama. Creepy space triangles. Those kind of trends.
Also, I do know everything.
- That's cool it's not a problem. Those are shirts for sale so there is a trendy aspect to it.110

Your shirt's are dope. I don't think you'll have any problems expanding if you read, work hard and get advice from the right people.
- d_rek0
I also think the shirts are great... although I will admit that I initially thought I might be looking at an ecommerce site for t-shirts.
That being said I like everything here with the exception of the calligraphy. The calligraphy, while it may display a certain technical proficiency, does not have the same level of presentation as the rest of the work. Not only that many of them at a glance look extremely similar. It could all be the same word drawn 40 different ways. Your calligraphy is very much lacking in variety / sophistication unlike your shirts / other work. Also, within that section there are duplicates of the same image. You might want to scrutinize your code / images for that page.
I would reconsider the calligraphy for presentation and quality. Pare it down to maybe the 10 best calligraphic studies.
Great stuff - good luck!
- d_rek0
In looking at other work it looks like you probably scripted the headline for this image, correct? I think this could be a great place to showcase how you used your calligraphy skills and integrated them into a project. Maybe show the piece and then the script? Also, it might be nice to show some original calligraphic sketches - you know ink on paper sort of thing. Anyway, just some suggestions.
- Hombre_Lobo0
^booooom
that's a top way of showing your calligraphy skills without having the calligraphy section.
*salutes d_rek*

The irony is that I didn't do that type on the poster. I changed it up and made the calligraphy part of 'Experiments' along with a series of Distorted symbols I'm working on. Also added an archive section to keep the main tshirt section leaner.
