It's great, only the lightbox when going on the image page is unnecessary, but acceptable.
I love that they eschewed pagination after every few images, it was so annoying.

I have mixed feelings about it. The search result I kind of like it, you get more images at once to see but then it's a bit clunky and cuts the flow.

From a user experience point of view, scrolling up and down is a lot easier than clicking on next every so many photos.

the lightbox is my main gripe, makes the entire process annoying and slow.

i don't get why they wouldn't offer a 'classic mode' in the advanced options. The new format loses all the handy meta-data of the original.
not sure if this new version maybe protects against attack sites better. That would be a handy feature.

its truly a backward step in usability, especially for users that need details (eg us). It cuts flow.. it actually adds extra clicks. The only thing thats right with it is it will appeal to the ipad generation suckers that love shiny pointless bollocks.
