The label has come out very nicely. I would keep the label as it but build up a layered vector using the colours currently there for the rest of the bottle and the background. Clean it up a bit.

Okay, good words so far. To be honest, it's not that I'm creating something I like, it's more that I want to cater to what my friend wants from the image...
So we started with this...
We started playing with it in photoshop, and I interted it out of curiosity, and it blew his mind, the dudes never even heard of photoshop before.
He liked the concept of hurting global brands/established corperations and also, in the invert, that the water was black, and impure? and I think that it was just generally messing around with his perceptions. As an inverted image is clearly just an inverted image, and some of themes he was extracting are pop art related, I thought I'd try and post process it to pull out that sort of feel.

Thread is over, your crap has been crit'd.

"He liked the concept of hurting global brands/established corperations" "provacative"...
I didn't walk away with any of these feelings after viewing that piece. It seems a little pedestrian. More thought needs to go into it.

I hear you, but
'...and it blew his mind, the dudes never even heard of photoshop before'
should not be an excuse and instead, you should show him something good and introduce him to better work (not saying your poster is bad)
- PeterPancake0
I'd sell him the invert, it's just I want to pass on something with a bit more complexity.

I spent too much time in the interwebs and this is coming from not a designer but the 1st thing that came to my perverted mind was this picture ->
No offense! it's just the first thing that crossed my mind, you professionals can carry on with the discussion I move away now.

I dunno. To critique the image formally there's a lot lacking there. The original is nice. Captures the shatter decently. Compositionally maybe not the most exciting thing.
The photoshop tragedies all just scream of "filter".
I guess it's hard to critique it further without understanding any context for the image. It really just looks like something you'd find on deviantart.
- Like I said, I'm not going for high art. But yeah, filters...PeterPancake

I like that it's very early 90's

Christonabike. Points taken. I've approached this in a much too light-hearted fashion, obviously. Anyone with a genuine interest to judge my work is invited to post in the seemingly more appropriate thread entitled ‘Poster Crit’.

Luv splosions!
Try doing film separations of the original then maybe spray paint them and then do an over stencil.
- Something like that would be sweet, but I don't think the composition merits the effort. I'm looking for something with a little less hassle (but no less imaginative value..maybe).PeterPancake

Many cheers for the input so far. I’m off out now but I'll try and come back to yous with a more Andy Warhol less Miami Vice redux. And if you're really bored, why don't one of you sukas try an edit?
Any points/input in the meantime are more than welcome. I will respond to them asap.

I don't like the background... I like the idea of it, but the execution is just really sloppy, and not a cool sloppy either... it's a lazy sloppy.
Maybe spend some more time on getting your ideal pop art background; possibly separating the bottle from the background and working with both individually to see what happens.
