Our nephew Tristan died last march due to a sudden brain aneurysm. It's been hard for the entire family. The loss for the parents is crushing.
The saddest thing how soon people become spoken about in the 'past tense'.

Melissa is one of f those that would sober up, get her life back together for about a year and then go on a bender and lose everything again.
The last anyone heard from her was "i found meth". She was found dead in her car three days later.
I've been to her kids b-day parties. We have a rose bush in our yard that she gave us as a housewarming gift. It just bloomed this week for the first time in a few years.

Gracie, my neighbor's dog. She was the mayor of our building in NYC. Here she is from last Halloween at the Tompkins Square Park dog parade. She loved everyone, especially children. Was incredibly smart and affectionate. She was only 10 but will never be forgotten. She passed on my birthday this Saturday.

My buddy Dave down the street lost his wife this week. They've been so kind to me and my dog since moving into this house. They were married 50 years. I asked what I could do, he said bring my dog over more often. Of course. I offered yard work and a couple friends if he needed anything moved around. He said he was going to sell his wife's car. I suggested he take one last road trip with her remains to revisit route 66, which was a story she had told me. Not sure what else I can do or if I should attend the funeral. :(
