Android for the win.
Apple are pretentious money grabbing whore bags.
Dont get me wrong making money is fair enough, but they are just being cocks.Johnathan Ive, the epitome of the arrogant designer. He thinks he's a genius like Henry Ford or something.
- yeah, I agree .. definitely more into these that apple phones********

Apple are money grabbing? Why do you think Google started Android, out of the goodness of their hearts LOL
One reason - so they can continue to monopolize search and ad dollars in the mobile space as well as the web
- apple lies about their intentions.hotroddy
- So does Google...did you hear their crap about "preventing one man from controlling mobile"ukit
- where can I read?hotroddy

@utkit
lol, goodness of their hearts, exactly!! :Dno i know its all money making, but when apple are being so difficult about flash because they want all the attention to go to the app store, not to web base flash apps.
Which as a result means Flash developers are out of jobs, and could potentially render flash obsolete (for app dev).
And as a bonus when Adobe make an program to bridge flash and iphone OS, they go no no no no (even though agreeing to it previously), again for the monies at the possible expense of flash.
- if im misinformed, let me know dude.Hombre_Lobo
- when did they agree to it previously?spifflink
- spifflink, I would assume that Apple and Adobe at least worked together at some level for that 'Publish to iPhone' feat.mathinc
- Adobe doesn't need Apple's cooperation at all. Apple uses LLVM to compile and LLVM is completely open.kpl
- LLVM doesn't work like other compilers, it's easy for it to compile from many different languages to machine code.kpl

@lukus_W. Given all your great posts I'm surprised at your misleading thread title! (Less surprised at the Register's sensationalism though... Jeez.)
- Heheh.. I know .. I hang my head in shame -> the heat must have got to me ;)********

It's true, Apple don't like Flash. But Google couldn't complete a sentence without saying "HTML5" at their conference, so I'm not sure they will be the #1 Flash supporters either in the future.
I just think it's kind of crazy with Google expanding to every single market - web, mobile, TV, broadband. At what point does it become too much?
- I guess there is still Windows and Palm/HP in mobile...we'll see if they are able to mount a challengeukit

don't you guys see the same cycle happening over and over?
someone bashes apple for not having features that some competitor has. they vow to switch. next quarter, apple comes out with new features that surpass anything the competitor has by a year. rinse and repeat.
- Or some of us never purchase the Mac/Apple because of that, so they never get a new customerformed

This is interesting:

"Apple has been declared dead 53 times since April, 1995." http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/d…
Lyons has been going off the deep end for awhile now, I think I tuned him out sometime after he injected FSJ into the Cambridge PD/Henry Gates fiasco...as if that was necessary.
Anyway, enjoy your precious freedom. Just keep an eye out on your personal info, and hope the largest database in the world doesn't somehow make it into advertiser hands, which happens to be the same hand that feeds Google.
(Can you imagine the shitstorm if it was Apple who accidentally snooped Wi-fi networks? But it's Google, and Google is Freedom, so whatever.)

Google is kicking ass and taking names!

What a bunch of horseshit. I can't believe I wasted my time reading any of that.

"As Google exec Vic Gundotra said when explaining why Google entered this market: 'If we did not act, we faced a draconian future where one man, one company, one carrier would be our future.' "
LOL!!! the bullshit is so thick and creamy, you can put it over pancakes.
- ever heard of an iphone?hotroddy
- To recap, 2005: Google buys Android. 2007: Apple introduces iPhone.kpl
- Gundotra didn't start working at Google until 2007. He was at Microsoft before then, where he learned to evil.kpl
- he looked like a douche on stage with Coco, too.BuddhaHat
- Google was worried about the future. They were spot on.hotroddy
- so the iphone would've been the only mobile device people had the choice of using?dorf
- The only competition I see is Android.hotroddy
- Eric Schmidt on Apple's board? He was on a mission for freedom. Not spying on advanced iPhone prototypes. nope.kpl
- i'm still not seeing how this guy's stmt is valid. ultimately people have choice over what they buy. to say one man, one company, one carrier is nonsense.dorf
- ...company, one carrier is nonsense.dorf

"Lyons details some Froyo capabilities that surpass those of the iPhone, mentioning speed, tethering, Flash support and the ability to stream songs from your music library."
Speed - Wait a few weeks for the new iPhone then lets compare
Tethering - iPhone has had for ages now, don't blame Apple for AT&Ts failings
Flash - Fair enough, I don't browse flash sites on my desktop and YouTube+iPlayer both support iPhone so this doesn't bother me.
Stream from music library - Well my entire library is already synced so no use to me and Google bought up an iPhone developer that provided this functionality just to get it off the App Store. So not as innocent as they make out
- PIZZA0
oh and that "draconian future" line was such developer pandering bullshit, what a fucking liar.
