bluetooth built-into car as well. all numbers are voice-activated so aside from pushing a button on the steering wheel, i don't touch anything and don't need to look around.
conversations can still be distracting so i keep them short anyway.

I used to :
If I am solo - hang up the phone, my answer message says that if i cut people off it means im busy, if its important then leave a message.Speed dial - answer phone on speaker at traffic lights.
if I have passengers I let them answer my phone. Now I dont do it.
My brother in law nearly lost his parents to someone who was on the phone whilst driving, and (not more than 2 weeks ago) actually lost his granmother, and 4 of his cousins were put in hospital by a guy talking on the phone and driving...

no talking or texting while driving, as you have to watch out for all of the idiots who does and the ones who can't drive. (that's plenty).

girlfriend does the texting for me
if solo, i take the risk - but wait for a less life threatening opportunity, like a red light, or traffic.

Phone to ear. That's how I do it. Until October that is when the law finally goes into effect that forbids me to do so.

we got a ban here in ore-y-gun. either i have become more sensitive to people using phones while driving or people just don't give a damn (mild profanity).
