So i have been here almost a year. It is cool so far, working at Factory has been an interesting ride for sure.
The mountains are great in the summer and winter, but the traffic is just absurd. I think for the type of music im interested in, Denver lacks quite a bit... but I might be able to look past it once i get some more pieces for my studio.

The city of Denver made all pit bull owners licence their dogs, shortly following they went to everyone's home who had a licensed pit bull and executed their dog.
Not a big fan of Denver after that.- serious? I know about the pit bull ban, but do you have a link or something?refunktion

Drinks!? Everyone busy...I recently made the shift back to being self employed, and stuff isn't too crazy yet so I would have some time. If anyone else is game, lets do this.
- There should have been a question mark after busy, I think...that sentence wasn't too great.JackRyan
- i like drinks. Wymans? Vine Street Pub? (i only say that cause i live up the street)refunktion

Welcome! Sounds like you're finding some good stuff. Great Divide and Vine St Pub (actually Mountain Sun from Boulder) both make great beer. I haven't been to The Lobby. I'll have to check it out. I just went to the breweries in Fort Collins yesterday. Great trip to do sometime... New Belgium, Odell, Fort Collins Brewery.
For house locations, I definitely agree about staying off highways if possible. Being able to walk, bike, and light-rail to everything is much more enjoyable. I've heard just west of Broadway (around 1st) is pretty affordable, and it's near a lot of good stuff.

also, drinking the right amount here is kinda hard to do.
- only takes a few to go way overboard.refunktion
- Ha... yeah, the altitude/dryness takes a while to get used to. Drink lots of water.joeth

Thanks artderailed, I love to ride and thats partially why I was offered/took the job here. I am super excited about the five mountain pass. My other big love is djing/making techno/house, and I have heard a few good things so far, namely the Communikey Festival in Boulder and a few other things going on here in Denver.
I have been trying to find a small house with a yard in Denver but craigslist is just filled with crap around Denver, I don't have an issue with commuting, but I am attempting to be close since i don't have a car yet. The Highlands look awesome and a pretty easy bike commute, but I am having a hard time finding a good listing.
pavlov, lol, I went to a Blazers/Nuggets game on Thursday (I am originally from Portland) and compared to Golden State fans, Nuggets fans are pretty tame. I only flipped off one rich white guy who wouldn't get out of my face, who also was wearing a mami university hat... so i didn't give him much more than that.

Denver's a really great place between coasts. The contrast of the Rockies next to the vast flatness of the great plains makes for some beautiful views. I lived there off and on for 7 years. You are from SF, so the long commute to the mountains won't annoy you too much. If you like snowboarding that much, try to build your schedule around never going on the weekend. It's a nightmare. Passes are REALLY cheap compared to the Sierra spots. $500 for a 5 mountain season pass.
Hard to give other advice without knowing anything about you. The highlands area is my favorite. It's full of yuppies, but the location to access everything easily is worth it. It'll also keep you off the cramped highways. Cap Hill is a good spot too. Streets of London, Benders, Bar bar, Illegal Pete's and 3 Kings Tavern are good swilling spots.
Also, make sure to take some trips to the four corners area during the winter or summer if you can get over Wolf Creek Pass. Many hidden gems there.

For those that care, I live in Denver now. Went to Vine Street Pub the other night... aside from the wait, i love it. Had some beer at Great Divide Brewery and The Lobby too.

5 Points is getting better, but still an odd feeling place. There are 750k townhomes sitting next to homeless people (doesn't help the central homeless area is blocks away)....so it is all in process. This economy has slowed things, too. I've seen some nice townhomes go at close to the developer's cost (still ain't cheap, but probably 30% less than 2 years ago).
If you got cash for mid end, you can negotiate some good deals.About time for a Denver Drinks?

seriously, I moved out in '96. Last time I was back was in 2000. Things had changed a lot since then. I lived in a bunch of places near capitol hill. Cool neighborhood. Last place I lived was across Colfax in 5 Points. Has that place been gentrified yet?
Oh I once was shot at 3 times on Colfax in the middle of the day right next to the police station and that huge beer store, Argonauts.
I thought someone was lighting firecrackers until we pulled into the parking lot to get some beer and saw all these silver dented holes in the side of our Trooper.
