Get a PC.
Oh, and this thread is hilarious. I don't see how this would be so difficult. There are many ways to do what you're trying to do and it sounds like simple reformatting in Word would fix the "line break" problem. It doesn't really sound like a Mac/PC problem at all.

try saving html-page as .txt

+1 pango. So, CygnusZero4, do you get paid by the hour for whining about Macs? Cos if not then you bring to mind the old adage about a bad workman blaming his tools.
If you hate OSX so much then don't use it. If you have to use Mac h/w then get Parallels or VMWare Fusion (Parallels is my choice), find a grown-up to configure it for you and use your favourite Fisher-Price version of Windows.

I think the root of your Mac problems can be found in a bad DFU.

I think CygnusZero4 just likes to hate on macs, even though he uses one.

...many, many good suggestions here - surprised you even had to ask. I do have a question though - why fuck are you copying tens of thousands of words from a web site? I mean generally speaking (and having been at the game for just a little while) it is unusual that this amount of text is only available on a web site - there's no original file floating around? Talked to you client?

or mac terminal..
tr -d '\r\n' < inputfile.txt > outputfile.txt
will remove carriage returns

is it really that hard?
past it into "textedit" app ( i'm very sure your mac has this app)
and choose plain text. not Richtext or something like that.
copy/paste back to word.
or maybe there is a easier way to do it but i just don't trust word.
