Can't get up an hour before landing is just dumb. I'm sure that will go away soon as you have people with kids who can't wait, pregnent women, or a varity of other people. Either that or you'll have a lot of piss in the seat. Just stupid how we put these fake measures into place. Obviously all the security we have no didn't stop someone.... they really think this will help? How? Get up during the flight, problem solved. Illogical and borderline retarded logic.

true, which is a shame. It shows the level of actual involvement we have. Wait and respond versus thinking of real ways to be proactive. It's not something easy to stop (don't get me wrong, I like good security), but I wish they would really think about how to proactively put good measures into place instead of letting the people who try these stunts to dictact the rules.

I love the comment that a passenger helped "subdue" him... It makes it sound very calming. Not like "passengers tried to murder him after he tried to blow up the plane"

there are a pile of mistakes in the BBC article and they use 3 different names for the terrorist! what the hell, they are about as useless as he is.
also if passengers aren't allowed to get up in the last hour of a flight, when someone else tries what he tried, no-one will be allowed to stop him... oh well, we are at the mercy of the genius minds behind the rules.

cops are smart...
some passengers demanded to see their lawyers, others said they wanted food and water. This last demand was answered affirmatively; the officers promised they were securing snacks and water for everyone. The officer continued:
"But every single one of you will need to be interviewed today. Before you go home. How many people here don't speak English? Raise your hand."
This last message prompted a bit of laughter.
