The location can vary based on the developers whim. Typically you'll find everything in a folder withing /wp-content/plugins/, then just start digging (I use DW's "find" to search for code snippets within the folder).

seems widgets are different than plugins. Does anyone else have any idea. I can't seem to find the files? It is the default wordpress, and just trying to customize the widget w/ CSS.

good luck. an easy method is to find a custom plugin that replaces the standard widgets and allows modification. at least i have found this an easier route.

Activate the plug in and look at the HTML code it generates on your blog to figure out what CSS styling you need to include.
