why don't you buy a good second hand Defender or something?
it may just be me but i don't get people buying NEW cars.
other then that, i know cars are ridiculously cheap in the US. but still, imho, waste of money.
most of the value is lost when you leave the dealership..

my buddy has one - awesome ride.. got it for outdoors purposes.. fits everything, smooth ride, can rough it out. definitely go with 4wd

4wd to bear is cake.. but always bring chains just in case. if you're making the transition from a small 2wd car to this, you'll frown upon the gas price but laugh your way past all the kooks who don't know how to drive in an inch of snow.

i thought about a 4runner for winter trips to the mountains out here, Mammoth/BigBear/MountainHigh, but with with an A4 Quattro instead. So happy with it too. Much better driving around town, great on gas and doooooooope in the mountains. just something to think about. and when you lay the back seats down flat, tons of room for snowboards/luggage/etc.

s'ok if you really do USE it for getting up snowy mountains, camptrips and stuff.
but i also think if you own a vehicle like this you have to be extremely aware of your footprint and ride a bike WHENEVER possible, not just on sunny days to the corner store.
- I do ride a motorcycle, but I don't live in the city..so riding a bicycle for commuting is not really an option.dbloc
