spent a while on this, as opposed to just whipping one out.. so just thought I'd ask.. any opinions? New techinques suggested might need a little advice/tutorial link. aah just noticed the type jumps a little.. so no need to comment on that..
..and I tried having his had in gaps btw the text.. that just looked cluttered..

oh and it's meant to be viewed at 160x600.. no idea how to show it any other way..
- skt0
it would probably help if you put it in html so it was the correct size.

Sweet motherfucking jesus. You could have fucking warned me what the banner was for. I very nearly had to look at a non-blurred chris martin there.
- wait to you see my michael bolton banners!! hehehProjectile

but a couple of points...
your text effects are horrible and very dated.
coldplay are cunts.
- We agree on something, it must be Friday.utopian

text effect with the word coldplay is dated but also doesnt work well with the talk writing animation
- if everything else flies on the screen, why not make the btns + logo at bottom do it too ?WeLoveNoise
- jevad0
Needs more text flying and blur effects. And steak.
- jimbojones0
besides of being dated, the effect is SLOW. stop the time, how long does it take the text to be complete. by that time I'm in LA, banging Gwyneth Paltrow.

any suggestions, folks? I dont see too many nice flash banners these days.. or nice text animation treatment of any sort. It's gotta be fairly eye-catching, as it's going all over youtube and even busier sites..
all the tutorials I've seen are for even MORE dated stuff..

not everything can be solved by googling a tutorial
- detritus0
Take out ALL the effects and animations, bar the brush stroke 'Viva la vida' one - then make those 1/4 speed.
After that, I don't know.

Also - what's the thinking behind the slide animation of the dude?
It doesn't make any sense at all - if you must animate him somehow - have him fade in from black, or something.
Animation is contextual - something very wrong is happening if a human being is sliding in horizontally at a few tens of miles an hour, then stopping suddenly. Animation must be believable - if he wa sliding in like that, where's the whiplash, recoil and blood seeping out of the nostrils?

"something very wrong is happening if a human being is sliding in horizontally at a few tens of miles an hour"
FUCKING LOL'D
- fyoucher10
Yeh, simplify it. A lot. Keep the effects subtle and tasteful. Get rid of any sliding movements, either on the guy or copy. Stick to effects where things are fading in somehow. Get creative.
- yeah.. that's what my previous ones have been like, and marketing dudes go "needs to be punchier!" ..."more impact" ..Projectile
- ..and they they start coming up with their own "ideas"... ned i say more? fmlProjectile
- brandelec0
i would start over.. less is more
- dMullins0
You should make the write-on text happen faster.
- harlequino0
Replace Chris Martin with Joe Cocker. Just cuz.

As far as being distracting and annoying its very effective!
Bloody banners...
:D
- exactly.. don't make it too distractingbrandelec
