Actually I thought Season 3 was losing the edge a bit but Season 4 is pretty good...bringing on Lithgow adds a lot.

Season 1 is the best. Followed the book.
After that it was written by others and changed around. Not as good, but still better than 99% of other TV shows.Season 4 is great by the last half.

ukit, juhls... respect your opinions and can't understand how on earth you guys are defending season 4... the writing is so predictable and just plain horrible, like the 90210 team took over.
each their own. pretty sure i won't be investing any time into a 5th season.
