I'd say Kubrick, because he managed to create almost the 'perfect/definitive' film in any genre he worked in, going from Spartacus to 2001, Full Metal Jacket to Barry Lyndon, The Shining to Lolita, Dr Strangelove.
- What genre would you put Lyndon, Lolita and Strangelove in?Khurram

I would say Ramesh Sippy who directed the classic "Sholay" starring Amitabh Bachan and Dhamindra.
This film is particularly noteworthy because it teamed up two of Indian cinemas biggest stars and rivals for the first time. You can really see the tension between them on screen as they vie for the right to be called the "action man of India".
And also Amjed Khan in the film is a sight to behold with his characteristic belly laugh, as he plays the most dastardly of villains!
Two thumbs up!
- hope you guys don't mind if i troll here for a bit today. xKhurram

True - Ang Lee is incredible. Lust Caution A++
He pulled a bit of a Lynch with Dune when taking on The Hulk.

Mark Herman... The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas got to me despite the english accents that were sooo out of place.
Emotionally jarring - exactly as it should have been. I rarely see an entire audience sit through credits without a sound being made.
