Seems pretty trustworthy to me but before I use it has anyone got comments about CushyCMS? Thoughts? Warnings?

Never used it personally, but it's a known known, so go with it.

I use it, I hate that I have to pay with paypal. Never had a problem with it and use it for my small small clients. Hella easy!

I can't believe somebody hasn't cloned this as an open source project. This is exactly what I need for some of my projects but I refuse to be stuck with another monthly fee and lose control over the software. They should sell an install-on-server version so that my clients can go to MY site to make updates. I can't believe something as complex as Wordpress is Free/OSS but this costs you $28/month.

http://cmsfromscratc…TheBlueOne - yeah the 30$ a month sucks.sherman
- cushy used to be free when did it change?
rodzilla - It is free but if you get a paid account for branding purposes its $30.sherman

they will probably make it free and open source once enough people support the project... any project needs funding at first.

This isn't an open project setup by a group of dedicated programmers creating something they love in their free time. A company is behind this. Companies exist to make money. Every time I've spent the time and effort to put my data in something like this it either goes pay only (and expensive) or disappears altogether. You know what has never disappeared on me? Wordpress. Even if it goes pay only or disappears, it's on my server. I never have to make that dreaded phone call to my clients that they can no longer update their site when they want because some vendor disappeared. If Wordpress disappears, I can run the old version and update it myself. That's just one example but it's important. I won't give a penny to this company unless I can install it on my own hardware. It's not worth the trouble. Open source projects stick around. I've had countless software programs that I spent good money on for my mac where the company just disappeared and I couldn't get support for something.

My 2 cents -
was messing around with WP for a couple weeks for a personal project I'm working on but ditched it for Expression Engine a few days ago - so far, so good.
WP is great in lots of ways but I found the admin interface super annoying after a while. It's really geared towards blogging and people who need to get running quickly with a template. And when you reach a certain level of complexity in terms of data, trying to make it jump through hoops to do what you need, doesn't seem worth it.
ee on the other hand is completely generic, both in terms of the UI and functionality. A really cool features is that with the Multi Site plug in you can manage several domains at once using the same login and even have them render from the same UI templates.
On the negative side, it does cost, and in general I'd prefer software like this to be free. Maybe in the future WP will roll out a version more geared towards use as a generic CMS, at which point I'd consider moving back to it.

I've tested/worked on a few of different ones, don't mind paying for EE - it's good and if the site needs it over Wordpress or a simple custom solution - it's these third party hosted solutions I would swerve big time for the reasons itsmitch gave above. wouldn't touch cushy for this reason.
