The only things I hate about the summer are hay-fever and Big Brother.

This thread will not go well

I haven't started this thread to be controversial, but I do get the sense that a few fellow qbn'ers consider things like Big Brother as a bit beneath them. We like to think our tastes are somehow more refined than those who watch it?
Well, I hold my hands up, as someone who is interested in human relationships and into popular culture and media, I find the whole BB thing fascinating.

I found it interesting for the first two series, but after that you've seen it all I think. Having said that, a wildy vomiting pregnant wife and a two year old in bed makes going out and living a thing of the past... so we watched it last night.
What a bunch of self-adoring misfits. I feel hugely sorry for that (clearly emotionally damaged) Russian ghoul who lurches like a disease in the background. And the feisty lesbian brummy is going to have a mental breakdown by Tuesday too. The only ones who seemed like actual real and genuine people was that kid from America and the bloke from India.
I am convinced that Freddy and Wolverine are both actors, possibly Beinazir too.

I agree with what you say about the self-adoring misfits. I would like to see a far more diverse range of people in there. A wider age range would be a start.

fuck anyone who supports this garbage

I just wanted to use the first post on this page to say
'twats'.
You know who you are. Thanks.

I thought they'd decided not to continue?
I couldn't care less - I don't live with TV-swamped morons any more, so I won't even notice this shit this year. Bliss.

The decline of western civilisation gathers momentum.

^ In the hands of a bunch of academically minded research documentary makers something like the Big Brother format could be really amazing I think. A serious grown up version where intelligent people are brought together specifically because of individual perspectives on an intelligent issue... that could be great television.
- Thats what the first british series was like.jgilmore
- < tell me that was a jokekelpie
- That, my dear Clive, is "Yours to decide" on tonight's special edition of "Yours To Decide", Good Welcome Britain!Orbit

- This kind of shitchat is as far as you can go really when it comes to big brothergjd

I hate the first 8 weeks of it, then ritually cackle my head off at the unfortunates who are then left to be abused and humiliated by the TV company.
My flatmate absolutely loves it, and has broken my once proud anti-BB stance over the last 2 years. I still hate it, but enjoy the hate more these days. The celebrity version is far funnier though.
- much as it is with come dine with me. A work of genius.kelpie
- sounds like you fucking love it reallyfiesta
- Oh 'come dine with me' is fucking golden.shitehawke

Yes Orbit, I like your thinking. I think there is huge temptation on the producers to go for the youth angle thinking they are going to be outrageous. But, unfortunately a lot of them don't seem to have much to say.
Cheap entertainment or social experiment? I think at the moment its the wrong side of the mark.

Sophie to win!

- moth0
Yes. You probably detect a hint of snobbery.
You may as well have turned up at this thread with fucking drop shadow on your logo.
