Bad eBay experience?

You know how you solve that if you sell a lot -- intermediate bank account. I NEVER let PayPal access to my main bank account for numerous reasons. Instead I have a cheap plan one that PayPal is connected to that when funds are placed into it, immediately gets transferred to my real account. And never let any money sit in the actual PayPal account the second its released.

My ex-wife sold a Coach purse on eBay for $350. Receiver got the parcel, even left good feedback. Then a week later called her credit card company to say the purchase was not authorized. PayPal/eBay sided with her and took the $350 out of her account. In the end: no purse, no money, no recourse.
PayPal can do anything they want with your money without telling you. It's in the fine print (which nobody reads). Be wary of them and NEVER send any goods without insurance/signature confirmation.

had a couple bad experiences about 10 years ago, but have since bought and sold hundreds of things on there. it's not a perfect system, but if you're trying to find something, it's likely that it's on there and cheaper than anywhere else.

sold some action figures, got sick, ended up in the hospital and was unable to ship them out on time. lady went crazy and reported it to paypal, who shut down my account and refuses to talk to me about any of it.
this was like 6 years ago. to this day they still will not talk to me

I've bought a couple dozen things off of ebay. Usually records, graphic T's and small electronics. Probably the most expensive thing I bought was a $400 G-Shock from Japan and that sale went great.
The only bad things that has happened was I've received a few bad bootleg vinyls. They play fine but have no collectors value.
I also bout a fake pair of Bang & Olufsen A8 Earphones from over seas.
It was such a bad copy and sounded so shitty I gave him a negative review and said he was selling counterfeit merchandise and so he gave me this negative review in "engrish"

I've bought hundreds of things off eBay in the UK. In fact, I buy nearly everything online from eBay, and I have never had a problem, either buying or selling.
I have returned items and got refunds, or reported a damaged item and gotten a refund.

Selling on ebay is total shit. Since they removed the ability for buyers to leave negative feedback to sellers, I've gotten fucked twice - one time a buyer had buyer's remorse, and when I told him he was obligated to pay, he paid for the item, made sure he received it from me, then left negative feedback.
Second time buyer had buyer's remorse, tried to make me retract auction (and thereby eat the listing costs myself). I used conflict resolution and managed to get out of it, thankfully. But, his ebay record is 100% still because I can't leave neg. feedback as a seller.
Oh, and good luck trying to get buyers to leave you positive feedback. The only time I've gotten feedback as a seller is when they leave negative or neutral. The half a dozen things that I sold smoothly? No record of it on my feedback page because the buyers didn't want to leave any.
Monopolies are a bitch.

I used to sell some art prints on there but haven't bothered with that in a while as I like Etsy better (pay less fees, seems less annoying overall). I still do use it to buy some art supplies (like mattes etc) and have not had a problem but I am using a art supplier that I have worked with before and has always been honest/legit. Iv'e also bought through Craigslist too (easels, drafting table etc) for bigger items that would have been too heavy/expensive to ship if I bought through Ebay.

bought a 23in apple cinema display *perfect* condition and had pink edges on all sides and useless.. the seller took it back though.

I email him and he says I filed a buyer protection claim against him. I did not. He freaks out assuming I'm trying to jack him and recalls the packaged.Long story short, ebay blew it again. I called and eventually got it straightened out (at least getting my 21$ back), but I never got the item and the whole thing wasted a ton of my time. My time was worth much more than the 120$ i would have saved buying from ebay.

I call paypal and sit on hold for 20 minutes. They tell me someone in Cali unsuccessfully tried to login to my account, and therefore they restricted it. That's what passwords are for (!!!!). Anyway, I go through the security probing and demand they fix it. They do.The seller ships the items. I'm relieved. Stupid me.

ebay / paypal together is a disaster. I recently tried to buy a softbox:
The seller was unresponsive after 3 days (and I had paid instantly). So I decide to contact him. Well, ebay somehow allowed him to block any contact with him and instead replaced it with an FAQ. When I would try to select the "contact anyway" option, it would hit me with an unclear dead-end screen blocking contact. (getting annoyed)
I call ebay, wait on hold for 30 minutes, and they give me the seller's email address. Ok, fine. I email the seller to ask what is up and he says he delayed shipping because paypal had a fraud warning on my paypal account. I tell him to ship it as he has received his money already. I login into paypal and there is indeed a notice about my account be restricted (even though it did actually pay the seller). To undo this restriction I would need to fill out a form, wait 3 days for some code to post on my credit card, and then put that code in. (getting angry)

YES! It sucks if you are a seller. Nobody controls it and their 'laws' are retarded. I posted a phone for sale and didn’t want to sell it for more than they were being sold, I actually listed lower. Within minutes of my post, some retard that created his username that same day at the same time bought it. A few days after, he sent me an email saying, "sorry. First time using ebay and this was a mistake. Please cancel order." Now, in order to cancel it, I have to notify ebay, show proof this idiot made a “mistake” and let them contact him to see if it is ok to reimburse me my listing fees, etc and to see if I could re-post my item. (if he said no, I would’ve had to pay those fees) By the time this issue was sorted out, the guy made sure my phone was off the market and he sold his (I had an idea of who this was).... 2 days later I sold the phone for $50 more on Craigslist.

^ In the UK, for UK sellers, threaten to get trading standards involved, also hint you'll contact the inland revenue. For fakes either threaten to contact the manufacturer or actually do so (along with trading standards). I have had trading standards even interested in UK based email scams.
