trademarks?

i'm not wanting to be too harsh but i have no website and that's doing me more favours than that current build will do for you.
- airey0
what's wrong with your current site?
- jamble0
It's as rocking as a basic 3 column layout without a header will ever be.
- ********0
yeah its built with tables its only being mocked up
- why don't you mock up with photoshop/illi and then css? surely tables first means a total rebuild?!?airey

it's tough to really give a judgement at such an early stage.
yeah i think airey may be right, tables are bad, um k.
- airey0
unless you prefer to work with tables - that's totally up to you.
the main issues are that the design needs refining beyond simply having 3 columns.

start with a sketchbook and pencil.
don't start with drawing html tables.

what the fuck is wrong with tables? will a visitor notice any change? will it compromise the user experience? will they look into the source code and go ooooooooh, he uses tables, what a sorry fuck I'll better google for someone who is CSS and XHTML-ready although I don't know what it means. I'm just saying.

a simple fact is that css makes for faster and improved seo sites. whether you care or not is up to you. in most cases it probably makes no fucking difference - i gotta say that css has been liberating for me, i always felt restricted with tables. just my 2 cents there.
the site shown is so fucking simple that it would literally take less than an hour to build with either css or tables - personally i'd do it faster with css now that i actually know it.
so basically this thread has had more thought and time put into it than the actual page being discussed. awesome.
- I love CSS, but the point is, to the end user it makes no difference.jimbojones
- maybe, i just found it odd than he'd post an average design when even the build is crap.airey
- it's not uncommon for a great developer to not see the design subtleties that improve so i thought he was that.airey
- but the old school coding (tables, css styles inline, etc) means that we're not talking top of the line.airey
