for several years i've been using this as my workout mp3 playah. i know it looks small and lame, but i shit you not - it has THE best sound of ANY player i've used thus far. with the bass booster, it pumps out the hardest heaviest beats with no problem... but the 256mb limitation and having to use the proprietary atrac format has gotten old.
i have this now, but it doesn't have the same quality bass sound like the previous sony.
so what's good for small em pee 3's?

- Whatever you do - don't get one with a built-in USB plug like in the second picture you posted - waste of space.Nairn
- itunes is still a million times better than that proprietary shit sony made you use with the MDlvl_13
- I'm sure it is - iTunes aside, I've never had to use any of them.Nairn
- the thing would crash 10x before i could ever get music off the thing. MD=best thing/worst thinglvl_13
- i've got this one .. it's good - and you don't need to use the sony software -> you can just copy in mp3********

all the iPods use crap converters now. find an old 4th or 5th gen iPod. those have Wolfson DACs that are superior to any portable out there.

"itunes is still a million times better than that proprietary shit sony made you use with the MD"'
i agree completely - but if i had you listen to that tiny grey box up there and then listen to your ipod, you'd feel quite cheated - trust me. sony knows sound (or they did).
- i believe you. but doesn't it also have a lot to do with your headphones?lvl_13

find an old iPod shuffle
ive had mine going on 10 years
- Wait, you actually use it?garbage
- the one with screen or no screen?pango
- Nano was the one with the screen. I think the more proper question is "Wait, you actually haven't lost it?"garbage
- i had a shuffle too. but it died.pango
- coincidence, we just resurrected the wife's old nano, a couple of dead lines on the screen, otherwise works perfectly. it even holds its chargehans_glib
- That's pretty impressive, I remember them being very tough and incredibly easy to lose bastards.garbage
