My arm has been forced and I needed a unix-based development environment with the requirement of needing CS3. This unfortunately ruled out Linux, and leaves me sat here with a macbook pro.
Here's my preliminary list of annoying nonsense that I want to bitch about. Can any of this be solved?
- Can't grab a window by any edge to resize it - only the bottom right. Utter nonsense.
- Maximise/Minimise a window. Just doesn't work doesn't it? Or it might work, but then it might also do what the fuck it likes and who knows what sinister plans it has and what'll "actually" happen.
- Cut/Copy/Paste - Pinky+Index was great on a PC. Now I need to use my third arm or something....
- Sorting a folder by name doesn't group the folders/files. I want folders at the top - separated from all my individual files. Why can't I?
- I want a black desktop. I only get 10 colors, and they're all nasty. Fucking apple nazis...
- Can't create a shortcut to a network drive - only something within it. Really useful.

Oh yeah. Not to mention the right-click malarkey. I guess "buttons" are not in fashion....
- buy a different mouse. Apple mice suck. I have a microsoft mouse and it works fine. Right click all daysection_014
- better yet get a fucking Wacom and shut your cocksuckerJayCee
- you can right click with a apple mouse.********

"Sorting a folder by name" is REALLY the one I need to fix first. I can't live with it like this....
- This shit bugged me forever. Then I started prefacing folder names with underscores.********

copy paste is in a more natural location on a mac: thumb is right by the cmd button! i roll with windoze @ home, but i'll replace this dinosaur with a mac eventually.

- 'More natural'? Depends on what you're used to. 'More natural' for me is to use my redundant pinky.Nairn

"Maximise"
Macs don't have maximise, they have zoom which (on well programmed apps, probably not shit like firefox) makes the window the size of the content AND NO BIGGER!
You see on Macs we don't waste screen space with blank space, you see the stupider end of Windows users sitting there with a 30 inch screen and a web browser maximised then reading a 100px wide bit of content in the middle of the screen then just a blank background around it.LEARN TO MULTITASK FFS! instead of wasting your screen with a single app
2nd mouse button: System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse>Mouse

apple + M to minimize

i lol at your inability to produce a black desktop

you'll get used to the 'scary new way of doing things' in no time, and then wonder what you were all hot under the collar about.
i migrated from pc to mac about 3 years ago and never looked back.
as for cut/copy/paste, have you no other digits?

Network drive.
Make sure you are in the finder, hit apple then K then select the drive you want. There is probably a shorcut to simply join a recent drive or an allowed one on a list.Black desktop.
Make a black image you poof.Maximise - Minimise
yes it does work.Grabbing a corner to resize.
so fuckcut copy
so fuck it's apple c and v you hommo.folders and files
so you want it to sort it twice, folders at the top in alphabetical order then below that files in alphabetical order. No Idea bud, but that probably sounds quite good actually maybe a bit easier for the eye to read.

The pain will pass, even if the problems (most likely) will not be solved And you will permanently have a shiny-glossy smile on your face.
Strange you didn't yet mention the lacking of a good charmap.
- glyphs palette
BaskerviIle - it's an OK replacement, not as good as the charmapFariska

So basically chossy - I have to put up with this shit?
"Make a black image"?
Fuck off!

I think CS4 emulates windows enviornment for photoshop, which I prefer. I don't know for certain, but I've heard. That's one of the main reasons I'm still on a PC for design. That and php/mysql administration is much easier for me on a pc. Plus IE testing. That aside, I hate the way OS X handles 100 or so files open in Photoshop. At my previous job they only ran macs and that always got on my nerves. All the files open through photoshop (or illustrator) contained inside a single window is better. Files minimized neatly on the bottom is much better to work with imo.
However, I have 2 macs at home that I use for audio production and I love them. I prefer OS X over Windoze by leaps and bounds. I boot into windows to play rfactor and for design work only.

Sorting folders (or files) on Mac is horrible. I spent forever trying to sort images by orientation on Mac and there was no easy way to do it....started using automator and got pissed off and switched to my pc, where it took about 2 seconds to do what I needed. The way osx handles windows is also extremely annoying imo.
There are annoying things on both platforms though.

On the network thingy, when you are connected to a network, drag its icon down to the dock or find its icon in the dock. ctrl + click on it and there will be a pop up list. Select 'Open at Login' and quit yer bitchin.
