- Personalyl I'd wait a ew years before getting excited about this sort of technology - too much to gain from attacking a single point of failure and winning.detritus
- ah I but I like my wallet and having a few cards.shapesalad
- it is good concept/tech.shapesalad
- my 1.5 y/o daughter would hate me to get this. She loves pulling the cards out my wallet and hiding them.microkorg

- Woah!!OBBTKN
- These things terrify me. <£5k for a high speed drone. Imagine 50 or 100 of these, set about a single target. We have no means to stop them.detritus
- Probably costs less than £1k for a single, hand made item. Never mind something considered and loaded with targeting electronics.detritus
- They couldn't put a go pro on it? Fast or just high pitched noise?shapesalad
- Of course they could - the purpose here is to get something to go fast as fuck. Add in electronics and you need to scale up size and weight = complexity.detritus

A new "too good to be true" smartphone by Lenovo will be revealed on June 5.
With breakthrough tech that we haven't seen in a while.
The Z5 will feature some kind of "particle based" storage that can hold up to 4TB (!), a 95-100% bezeless screen-to-body-ratio with the front camera either under the screen or sliding up from behind and a next-gen battery that can give up to 45 days of stand by.
I hope they're not bullshitting or this will be revolutionary: http://playfuldroid.com/lenovo-z…
- How can it be too good to be true,
if it is true....set - Lenovo
Good enough to be trueset - We will see soon. 4TB in a smartphone and a 45-day standby battery sounds too good to be true.M01XXX
- lol setMaaku
- And tech we haven't seen in a while means we've seen it before, a while back :)Maaku
- Breakthrough would be able to fold your phone without breaking the screen, or projecting holographic images, or transform your phone into a different accessory.Maaku
- Bigger screens, better camera, more space, and a longer battery life has been the same innovation looping since the iphone 1Maaku
- lol @ breakthrough tech that we haven't seen in a while. How did I miss thatset

Why hasn't anyone invented a AI/automated fly killing lazer?
I envision you'd place 2 or 3 small amazon echo like device in your room. Using infrared camera data on each device, it could combine the data and figure out - this is or is not a fly/mosquito, then where the fly is, track it's movement and then each device fires a lazer beam at the fly. The lazer beams on their own are too weak to cause damage to your room, but where the beams meet, their power is double, tripled = enough to disable the fly.

Pentagon's AI project already hunting terrrorists, 7 months after being started..
we are so fucked.
- We'll all be following in China's footsteps soon enough. http://on.wsj.com/2y…detritus
- The UK, Europe and US have had fairly pervasive CCTV coverage for decades now, which wasn't great ...detritus
- ... but tying that to AI in the cloud with essentially infinite proessing capacity is... well, terrifying. We are, as you say, fucked.detritus
- CCTV was always best used retroactively to solve crimes. Now they can be used to directly limit and control people in advance. I want to move to The Falklands.detritus

- this will be hacked, passwords will leak, reps. will enter houses with surveillance (like google glasses). this will be the standard for ppl who can affodsofas
- afford it instead of combating the reasons ppl steal.sofas
- and Walmart is a major player that could help combat that, though of course it's a business that doesn't care about thatsofas
- It's a lot easier breaking into a house with no electronic contraptions at all. Yes, can be hacked, but so can your door lock (or rather, picked, or whatever).jagara
