- @graf @utopian always preferred Chris Ashworth's tenure on RAYGUN rather than Carson's myselfjonny_quest_lives
- https://ashworth.wor…jonny_quest_lives
- Yeah idc, it's style vs. concept
Carson or Ashworth have only style, no strong concepts so their work looks outdated afgrafician - i dunno maybe because Ashworth is more hands on with the technique-ing and distressing of the elements I feel his work ages a bit better than Carson's or maybejonny_quest_lives
- or maybe I just have a fondness for hand distressing letraset type/ scratch pads tape, or printing shit out then zeroxing it over and over again it madejonny_quest_lives
- what we called the art pit fun at my first agencyjonny_quest_lives
- yeah but that kind of style makes no sense! in design you need context, if not then it's art and even that needs even stronger contextgrafician
- so Victore's stuff is design with a strong "handcrafted" style while Carson is a kid playing with collages that never grow upgrafician

- I don‘t hate it but it was cool in the 90‘s/ early 2000. Not sure now.NBQ00
- NBQ that was first initial reaction as well. I just discovered his newer work and was impressed where he has taken his classical design style from the 90's.utopian
- Give it a few more years, wait until the newbies get a hold of this style, will end "flat design" just wait and seegrafician
- I don‘t think his work evolved. Still looks the same like in the 90‘s.NBQ00
- Thank the lord for thisnb
- the top two are nice.inteliboy
- Never got Carson, it's just a visual mess. I'd say it's more art than design.TOMMYxGUNN

- It was cool in the 90‘s, loved the RayGun mag and NIN‘s The Fragile Album artwork. But his stuff feels stuck in that era.NBQ00
- so weird that he's still fucking that particular chicken. he does it better than anyone else though, i guessscarabin
- Whether you like his work or not...he single handedly created a style and aesthetic that has been reproduced and copied more than any other designer.utopian
- ^ pfftMrT
- "that has been reproduced and copied more than any other designer"
Refrain yourself pleasei_was - It‘s also strange that he‘s now teaching students this style in 2021. Should‘ve done that in the 90‘s.NBQ00
- I would love to see some of your stellar, award-winning, transformative and disruptive design work some day. Feel free to share.utopian
- I'd like to see Carson's firstMrT
- I like it, it's a lot closer to abstract painting than design. Plenty room for different styles.PhanLo
- I take it that no one here has any award-winning, cutting edge design to share that will blow our minds away.utopian

- “Let’s save money and ask the director’s brother if he can draw the covers?”nb
- Jk about saving money. These are great. But it’s less “Design” and more Eric Anderson’s illustration as default.nb
- Maybe it's not just 'Design' but it's definitely more than just the illustrations. It's 'Pic of the day - ART DIRECTION'. I should have started a new thread.Wolfboy
- This is fine.StoicLevels
- Oh, I didn’t mean to suggest you shouldn’t have posted it! These are dope!nb
- No, I didn’t think thats what you were saying. My point (and I didn’t say it very well) is that Criterion look at all aspects of their releases and someone...Wolfboy
- made a great decision on hiring him across the range. The booklets that come in the cases are really nice too.Wolfboy
