Do you guys feel that these days people are afraid to criticize someone's work? I know we get some good constructive criticism on QBN.
But I am kind of shocked that gatorade is getting compliments on it's new campaign...

Not really, Blaw recently got good honest criticism, which he really appreciated and he took very well and I am sure will do better for it.
I tend to ask my pal josimar for criticism he is in my opinion the most talented and knowledgeable designer I know, and he is able to pick up on all the shite I have done and tell me very quickly how to improve it, he rarely gives me a compliment and if he does it's a back handed one.

If anything I think the criticism on here can be a bit shallow at times - depends on what you're looking for. In the main the comments tend to be about purely aesthetic, surface things and seldom look underneath to understand the function or particular requirements of something that's been put up. Whether that's a good or bad thing depends on your perspective about what design is I guess. I also think quite a few people on the site don't consider more than that surface value in how they generally view the ouput, particularly in terms of how it will be perceived by the people who will end up being asked to use or respond to it.
There is at the very least though a brilliant hardcore of people who's technical advice is priceless for anybody who wants to learn here, and is prepared to listen.
