Where's a good place in London to get some large photographs printed up on canvas? I've seen good examples at touristy markets and such - but I've no idea what I'm searching for and don't want cheap crap.

I would go to a photo lab that you can afford and get one done. As long as the print looks good and they supply with a uv protection lacquer to protect against fading, dust and finger prints you should be right.
I have built up a good rapport with my local printer, makes things so much easier.

are you just wanting one done moth or a number?
my dad had got a load of photos put onto canvas to sell,
he found it was cheaper to get a load just printed onto canvas then make the frames himself. means you can make more profit in the longrun.

http://www.4canvas.co.uk/ by far the best – use dye sublimation instead of that crappy inkjet shite.

It depends 23kon if I think my photos are good enough! Mainly, I want some done for my flat, but I understand it's probably cheaper by the dozen.
I've not got a problem with framing it myself, but I've not really thought too much about it other than just wrapping it round a simple frame with staples...

yeah thats all you need to do, go look at canvases in an artshop and see the sort of wood/brackets/staples youd need to proceed then just get your photos printed onto a length of canvas to cut out and mount yourself.
Id assume theyd be able to print the different pics out on the same length.
What i'd do is order some FOR my flat, make them up myself, hang them in flat, take some good photos then put them online payable by paypal and see if anyone orders one.
thats how youd find out if your pics were good/desireable enough ;)then if no one buys then you havent wasted any money cos you were wanting them for your own flat anyway.
one thing is true, the folk that print and make these canvases put huge markup on it. so would be worth finding somewhere you can get some banter with then get a discount if you became a regular customer.
by making your own frames you cut a massive amount of labour cost out :)

Some of the ones I've seen have been excellent.
