Dont shy away from 1200s..... If you can find used 1200s .....its worth the investment. Look on craigslist or ebay.....there is always a DJ selling their tables. I got two brand new MKII Technics for $300 each...normally $500 retail.

got pair of MK5's for 800, just gotta look hard

- well damn.... thanks.fiver
- no problem. these are actually newer than the mkII's.

Angelis Labor Premiers $64,000 Gabriel Turntable
Angelis Labor is the latest company to trot out an uber-expensive turntable in the hopes that some moron will plunk down sixty-four large to impress one of his even more moronic friends.

Look for an old ('80s-'90s era) Parasound.

I have one of these with a goldring cartridge. Not direct drive, but if you're not DJ'ing or anything, get a belt drive.

if i were going to spend ridiculous sums on a turntable, i'd get that one that reads the record with a laser. apparently it can bring new life to recordings because it can read parts of the groove that the needle never touched.
