Been absent from QBN for sometime....
Everyone at my workplace was forced to take off for a long ( almost 2 weeks) holiday vacation and either use existing vacation time, or borrow it if you didn't have any. Things could be much worse, but I am starting to feel a bit twitchy.
With all the unemployed/laid off threads I was curious to see how everyone's workplace is? Are things getting sketchy where you work?

we were forced to take a week off between the holidays without pay unless you had remaining vacation time
right now, i think we're ok - we already went through one phase of layoffs
i'm just keeping my head low and working hard

i'm freelancing at a full service agency for the past 4 months... 98% of their clients are pharmaceutical companies that are extremely wealthy compared to normal design clientelle... so they seem to be doing alright. if your soul can stand it.. find/do work for pharma
- every project you do you die a little bit more on the inside working for pharmsilentseven

at a place I used to work at many moons ago, we were always required to take 2 weeks off during the summer - unpaid - because the boss took those 2 weeks off for vacation, and of course he set the dates... and that was all the vacations we got for the year, if you wanted to take any more time you had to take your extra time unpaid because of course was not part of the yearly vacations. I know I know, i was new at the biz.

I noticed it has been freezing cold in my building off and on as well.
I theorize that they are cutting the heat way down to save money.....I could be wrong though.

We're less than ten people, so it's pretty lean. But, we did just cut a senior person's hours in half, and she may get canned entirely in a another couple months. She works on only this one account, and she has no real skills beyond that, so it's a stand alone circumstance.
Otherwise, we actually seem to be gaining a bit of business here and there. I think it's because we're so small, we can do larger "agency sized" projects cheaper, in addition to our standard banner crap and one page sweepstakes type promos. But we're all squirrely anyhow and watching the ad age pages.- I think you're right...the smaller agencies might actually do really well in all this.designbot

No raises or bonuses, 1 layoff, nothing really that promising coming thru the door for Q1. I've been predicting us going down the tubes for months now but strangely it hasn't happened yet. I think we're secretly funded by the S.African mafia.
- what's in it for them I wonder. Maybe I need to check into this racket.JayCee

I just got a nice raise.

it's ok. Seems that another division of this cash-cow client is requesting our services, so doesn't look to bad.
Got a small xmas bonus tho.

New Job. Love it.
even got a tiny bonus after my first 2 weeks of work for the holidays.
- kezza_20
we're ok, the big FMCG clients will keep us ticking, but cutting back as much as possible.
no bonus's but that seems irrelevant somehow, which is intersting as last year i would of left
