So, this happens..
I have a A2 file in illustrator, i did the bg etc bigger, like 3mm on each side, so it is bigger as the black 1px border in illustrator.
I save it.I open up a indesign file, A2, with 3 mm bleed, I add a image field, do apple+D and select the saved illustrator file.
then, it just ads it as A2, it cuts off the bleed. how do I add that illustrator file into the bleed aswell????

what are you trying to do? I'm confused...fit into your indd shape? push apple+shift+e

no, a whole A2 page filled with an A2 illustrator file, it does that, but it doesn't ads the bleed in indesign

and I had the bleed in the illustrator file

even my teacher found it pretty strange.

are the bleeds in the Illustrator doc or on the pasteboard?
- doesnotexist0
if the bleeds are outside the artboard it won't show up in indd
- This is why. Change AI doc size to include bleeds or export PDF with bleed and place PDF instead.duckofrubber

expert as pdf with bleed info.

ok, thanks, i'll try in a few

or maybe change the AI doc size to include the bleed (A2+6mm)?

make sure you're exporting the bleeds in indd when going to PDF, and make sure your ai document size includes your bleeds as well.

make sure your illy document is the size with the bleed, not the trim size.

If you're placing an Illustrator file in Indesign and you want the bleed to appear, you have to save as an eps. Saving as an ai file crops to the artboard for some reason.

gifto, that problem is already solved :D

the colours are just screwed up in pdf as you can see above
- Have you got any transparency in the image? Sometimes that can preview funny.Gifto
- i think i had in the PS file, wich I imported to illustrator, wich i then imported to Indesign********
- Could try flattening in PS before putting in Illustrator? You can preserve transparency in pdf export settings too.Gifto
- let me check it********
- flatten img screws it up even more (greens and reds etc)********

gifto, where is the transparency thing when saving as pdf in indesign
- Gifto0
When you export, go to 'advanced' option, transparency flattener option at the bottom
- horton0
just export your AI art as a tiff and place as an image into ID... unless its loads of small text.

Try changing your preset at the top of the export dialogue box, it won't let you on a couple of them. You saving it for print?
