I have a 1Mb line, and these shit heads have cut it back to line to 86K sec. I can understand 500K, but 86k sec is a joke.

They did exactly the same to me, Roundabout, and simply wouldn't accept that my 'reduced rate' was down to intolerable (in this day and age, anyway) 'Baud Modem' levels.
The only solutions you have open to you now are - stop appearing in their "Top 5% of Downloaders" list, or annul your contract for breach of service and then change provider.
Since we stopped torrenting, they've been fine with us - but Godfuck if dealing with them isn't the most unsatisfying, pointless process - their tech guys even admitted as much to me.

The cheekiest thing about it is - you have to snail mail their Head Office to get anything like a response. We never got a mail response, but we've not had any problems since I wrote them, despite (I'm sure) having touched upon the 10gb per week threshold that was mentioned to me during one of many phone calls with them.
I fucking hate Virgin.

It was mush better when it was Telelwest. The tech support was free, and they did not have a problem with you D/L as mush as you wanted. I even got speaking to the line manager at telewest once and he advised me about getting good download speed for my torrents, hahaha, it was great. Look like it's game over now for endless D/L.

Stuff like this, I always call them and talk about what they advertised to get me to be a customer (quoting the 'unlimited' bit a lot), not the 'terms of service'..... and if necessary escalate my complaint all the way up the management. (Once got my complaint up to COO level at BT... that actually works very well).

if its a 1Mbit line, then its gonna be 100kbytes/s (or 125 if its cable) or something like that.

I get about 19mbps down on my virgin 20mb line.
No complaints here.

I have a 3.1km line length (even though I'm 200m from the exchange).. max 2-3mbit for me no matter who the provider is... :/

I find it doesn't matter who you go with for whatever utility; Virgin, Sky, Bt, British Gas, O2 - They're all cunts.
And they all fuck you over, safe in the knowledge that they are going to get away with it.

oh no.. Tiscali are much worse than Bulldog, and Bulldog is much worse than Sky. There are many levels of awfulness in that industry...
