But, I LIKE a poke in the eye with a sharp stick...
I think I'd need to soak up the atmosphere of them at full scale before I could really say one way or t'other if I liked them or not. I've only seem them on these shots here. I think they're visually very impactful I'm just not sure they feel 'quality' like The Times somehow.
The Cameron Churchill shot (if it is indeed a shot not a comp) is nice but what exactly is it's message? There's no correlation, political or situational between Cameron and Churchill, and Cameron is hardly news at the moment anyway (much less so Churchill).
The LHC collider is a nice shot ruined by the black matting applied to it IMHO and again it just feels a bit moodboardy with no really communication to make. Just "look at the pictures".
The Obama one seems to be pushing for a narrative at least.

I seem to think that they are going for the simplistically rather than trying to say too much. I do think they are necessarily going for a message per say more brand awareness and a nudge towards world events and that The Times evokes thought and conversation on a level playing field....
Simplicity in the idea and the execution. It works for me :)
- I think that's why I'd want to see them in the flesh so to speak, they probably express soemthing different at full size.SkyPoo
