Me? No. I think that, as usual, far more politicking goes on behind the scenes than what we see on TV. I think that she was vetted just as carefully, if not more so, than Obama vetted Biden. Politics is nothing if not calculating.

Who knew obama before he started running? Everyone is saying McCain barely knew her and he made a rash decision, as if he said "Oh, I hear that Palin chick up in Alaska is doing a pretty good job( and shes good looking) ...lets pick her", and they called her up. Rash decision? A short list of candidates had been formed months ago. I bet more research was done on her then even we believe is possible.

Well yeah DTM Obama knew Biden pretty well..they worked in the Senate together and campaigned together for nearly a year
The fact that McCain didn't know Palin at all, combined with his age and her lack of experience is pretty stunning.
He met her a total of one time in person...not even at a meeting to discuss VP, he met her casually at an NRA meeting

The point is, it's not about finding the best person for him...it's about saying, "hey look, a woman!" And considering that McCain could kick the bucket at any moment, that's pretty damn irresponsible.
