State of Oregon is planning on developing the first so-called "solar highway" that will be installed at the Interstate 5 and Interstate 205 interchange in Tualatin and produce 112,000 kilowatt hours of energy per year.

Wow, I never realized an interchange alone, would use so much power.

very nice but u spam too much.

If people would stop driving their gas guzzling cars, there would be absolutely no need for a "solar highway" used to light the interchange.
What a scam...

And the 1.3 million will be paid for by 2028...the same time the solar panels need to be replaced :)
My biggest fear with everyone "going green" and these types of efforts is that we will rush into using these alternative energies without doing our homework. Solar power is still really expensive, and the EROEI (engergy returned on energy invested) is not that good. My question is, how many barrels of oil and how much coal will be needed to produce panels for the "solar highway" to begin with? And when will it pay (money and saved resources) for itself in energy costs?
