im on cs3 on a mac btw. i never encountered this on cs and cs2 on a pc even if my monitor was calibrated or not.
ive just opened up the same psd file on a pc with cs2 and resaved it as a jpg. it looks fine and not washed out. im gonna go thru the colour settings on cs2 and see if i can replicate them on cs3. according to google, people have been having the same problem with cs3. ive tried the fixes theyve suggested but none of them seem to work for me.

What settings are you using to save to web? If you're letting it set to GIF 256 web safe palette, you're gonna have some problems... post a screenshot or something of your settings.

when saving for web change the color setting in the 'save for web window' to standard windows color. this is accessible through the arrow in the top right hand corner of that display window.
- Listen to this person! I figured this out last week. After years of frustration!
MashPotatoesJohnson - it looks fine on the SFW preview but once you view the file on a browser or on flash it still looks washed outOctober

Your color profile in PS isn't setup correctly and your monitor might be off as well. This problem use to drive me nuts until I found this site. It cured the problem for me and I no longer experience the color shift.

i find exporting from psd to flash as png gives much better results and allows flash to compress more easily. exporting jpegs to flash won't make the flash file any bigger or smaller than if you use png. just my 2cents.
- i use png for flash too. im just comparing the jpegs for now since PS does the same thing for png files.October
