i donnnnnnnnn't careeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... he's not going to be president. instead, we'll have some other lesser of 2 evils - hopefully. but then again apparently the majority thought it would be a good idea to vote in bush again, so who knows - i've just become jaded and believe that the general public is mentally retarded.

"Our family has been through a lot. Some caused by nature, some caused by human weakness, and some – most recently – caused by the desire for sensationalism and profit without any regard for the human consequences. None of these has been easy. But we have stood with one another through them all. Although John believes he should stand alone and take the consequences of his action now, when the door closes behind him, he has his family waiting for him.
John made a terrible mistake in 2006. The fact that it is a mistake that many others have made before him did not make it any easier for me to hear when he told me what he had done. But he did tell me. And we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007. This was our private matter, and I frankly wanted it to be private because as painful as it was I did not want to have to play it out on a public stage as well. Because of a recent string of hurtful and absurd lies in a tabloid publication, because of a picture falsely suggesting that John was spending time with a child it wrongly alleged he had fathered outside our marriage, our private matter could no longer be wholly private.
The pain of the long journey since 2006 was about to be renewed.
John has spoken in a long on-camera interview I hope you watch. Admitting one’s mistakes is a hard thing for anyone to do, and I am proud of the courage John showed by his honesty in the face of shame. The toll on our family of news helicopters over our house and reporters in our driveway is yet unknown. But now the truth is out, and the repair work that began in 2006 will continue. I ask that the public, who expressed concern about the harm John’s conduct has done to us, think also about the real harm that the present voyeurism does and give me and my family the privacy we need at this time."
- I respect her. I want to punch him in the face. People suck, I guess.monkeyshine

wow. I don't know why this surprises me but it did. I was an early Edwards supporter and the idea that he might have won the nomination knowing this could come out just confounds me. What a selfish f*ck. And to trounce your sick wife around the country all the while?! It's pretty f*cking unbelievable. :(
- TheBlueOne0
Zero respect from me. Imagine if he did get the nomination and then this bomb dropped? Not only his but his entire party's chances would be gone. Yet he tried to get the nom anyway knowing this? Epic personal and professional fail.
Besides that public side of it, the rest is between him and his wife, which they apparently already addressed before, so there you go.

Think about it - if you were screwing around on the side, and someone asked you in front of your family in a public forum if you were cheating on your spouse, would you own up? I don't think that has any relevance, and don't think people should be required to answer questions like that for the public - that's personal. Now, his wife has the right to ask and beat the shit out of him, but that's on a personal level. I sure as hell wouldn't own up to being a cheater.

Crazy how during a campaign he was cheating... he was working alot and boom...it happpens. At least he takes responsibility and admits he fucked up. Thats all he can do but hes probably screwed for VP unless some extreme sympathy thing goes on.

Anyone who cheats on a terminally ill woman is a scumbag IMHO...oh, and also the fact that he is a vain tool...
- mtgentry0
I hope the baby is his.
- lvl_130
Ridiculous. Plain and simple. Did he ever think he would get away with it?! The fact that he is in the spotlight about it really says something about the "news" we all watch. Worthless.
- professor0
I can't believe that the son of a mill worker would do such a thing.
- sputnik20
i think the next door neighbour is a scumbag for cheating on his wife. i think my ex work colleague is a ho for cheating on her husband MULTIPLE times. if this thread were about them, i'd be saying the same thing.
his spouse was ailing, he pretended to have these wonderful Wendy's anniversaries and paraded all over the media as a strong/united couple, all while he was nailing that woman. he really used his strong marriage and "stand by your woman while she's sick" schtick during his campaign. to me, that aggravates his actions and makes him ever more pathetic.

John Edwards don't love them hoes.
- fooler20
im not saying it isn't a shitty thing to do to your spouse but I've personally know of countless affairs and all has been forgiven.
The facts are that 50% of marriages end in divorce. It's not a new subject this shit happens to a lot of people.
- I thought it was 70%. Shit if it's 50% I might just get married.somatica
- mrdobolina0
Look, I'm not defending John Edwards but people made statements about "if it were a republican blah blah blah"
GFY
- So, who gives a shit other than you? You take shit too seriously and that's probably why you're so alone.somatica
- alone? where do you get this shit from?mrdobolina
- oh, dear.sputnik2

"umm he admitted it." - mrdobolina
Dude, this was the first paragraph in the article YOU POSTED! I can see how you missed it though being the first paragraph and all.
"John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker,..."
wtf BRO! Read your own shit.
- and please don't call me, bro. that shit is weak.mrdobolina
- Whatever you say PAL.somatica
- somatica0
^ Oh I don't know fooler. I'd like my President to have qualities like honesty, commitment, morals,... shit like that. And if they do cheat I'd like them to be humble enough to admit it and right their wrong. That might just be me though cause ya know, if they get on TV and lie about a "little thing" like cheating on their wife it scares me a bit that they might lie about other things like WMD, or how they put shit in Chicken Nuggets.
- fooler20
why do we hold elected politicians on a holier than thou pedestal?
People have affairs all the time, parents, bosses, coworkers, even myself have cheated on a girlfriend here and there. Are these people not human?
- Its because they put themselves on the pedestal in the first place. They're hypocrites.mtgentry
