lets discuss Revolution a bit further, because that pretty much is the only way anything will ever change.
But honestly, how many of you want a revolution, the wealthy control the military and the police, but the non wealthy are the military and the police. We have the numbers. Not that I would want to see a violent revolution what –so-ever. But I would like to see more people take an interest in the policies that shape their life, and all human life. The new American Revolution became a dam advertisement campaign for Chevrolet I think. Let’s call it an information revolution for the sake of national security, the scheme was there from the inception of this country to centralize the powers of government, but I mean this country has changed so much from day one. There was a brief time we had no President, and really WTF do we need a President for. The point is nothing is written on stone, we do not have a government of the people as it was intended to be. But we have a government of the “right” people as some early forefathers wanted it to be.

So what would we want a revolution for? What would it bring about and how? For starters take the Iraq war, it is a good bet to say the majority of Americans want the war to end. MAJORITY, but not the majority of the “right” Americans want it to end. So how is this representation of the country as a whole? It is not. Why exports tons of jobs to Communist China , but have a age old embargo against Communist Cuba? The polices of the social elite in this country do not represent the people of this country. Think about what you truly really own in your life. Do you really own it, or do you owe on it. The smoke is clearing up and the mirrors are shattering one by one! It is one thing for the general public to know that the government does not have there best interest in mind. And a whole different matter to understand why the government does not have out best interest in mind. Be informed (which most here are) , the information revolution is well under way!

You can't have a revolution, BattleAxe, when people are only interested in what others ate for lunch.

  • lowimpakt0

if the government doesn't have "our best interests" in mind how can we be sure the revolutionaries have our interests in mind?

    • Well if this is your problem then start your own revolution...
      ********
    • i've had my revolution. all i want now is my slippers and pipe.lowimpakt
  • Khurram0

Wtf?? Whose "only" interested in what others ate for lunch??

The whole point of highlighting the obnoxiousness in which G8 leaders express the wealth, power, and prestige of their club is to draw attention to the issue at hand. I.E High food prices.

How is this "only" caring about what others ate for lunch? What nonsense.

-1000 moth, back of the class.

this not about the lunch they had,
this is about saying one thing and doing the opposite,

those group get together and decide to reduce carbon emissions,
result: we're on the brink of suffocating ourselves,

they get together and discuss the end of poverty
3 years later the world is poorer than it was

they get together and decide to bring democracy and win the war on terror, i'll let you answer that

if you can put 2+2, you will understand that there's a lot more in what we're talking about then food, its a matter of setting an example to be looked at and emulated. If you consider that its alright to shit on the starving people by stuffing yourself with food so delicate some of it will be extinct soon. then its your way of seeing it, but do not forget that britain isn't self sufficient in his food production. when the real shit will start, I hope your rich friend that eat such gourmet food will leave some on the floor for you.

Talking about revolution nowadays bring to my memories this great book...

Moth, I don't think anyone in this thread is exclusively fixated on the lunch they ate, rather we are all expressing our disgust at the situation as a whole using the fact that they ate so well as a sort of metaphor around which to spin our contempt. If anyone has fixated, it might be you for assuming we see no greater problem than the meal they ate. I don't think anyone who contributed to this thread was under the impression that the meal was the overarching issue. It would be possible to isolate and fixate on absolutely any one single aspect of the G8 situation and render it meaningless through prolonged discussion.

Why don't you provide us with the definitve nutshell appraisal of the problem in a succinct statement and we'll all applaud you and get behind it as a campaign manifesto.

This thread has been about nothing but disgust at the meal up until this point.

    • lol, you're tripping blud.Khurram
    • you don't really think that do you?kelpie
  • Khurram0

And i think it's infinitley appropriate to point out the hypocrisy of a man whose been wined and dined on 24 courses in a day, whilst he lectures his people to waste less food.

How the fuck is THAT distracting from the issue/wider debate?

I'm under no illusion that the G8 has any responsibility for fixing the world's problems, and nor do i call on them to do so. The group was founded in 1973 following the Arab oil embargo and the first global oil crisis.

The whole point of the group was for the world's super-rich to come together and figure out how they can defend their priveleged countries against all the tragedies and crisis that befall the poorer world.

And in that they do a great job. Best of luck to them.

What i wanna know is, that when these same leaders talk about "eradicating poverty in Africa" and "wiping out hunger", and yet meet annually to safe-guard their own club and to bunker-down - where do WE draw the line?

Not that i give a shit, but in the times that we live and the radical new direction that they keep promising... i think its about fucking time they delivered.

    I remember pre-Tory moth.

The non-polarised one who had an amusing hair style.

Actually, perhaps I don't remember pre-Tory moth. But I do remember that hair style.

  • Spookytim0

If you don't me saying so Moth, that was the purpose of the thread. The person who posted it up was using the meal as the point of entry to a discussion. Surely you can see that Moth, surely you're not THAT confused.

Anyway, lets make it easy for you. Forget that the thread was started to comment on the meal they ate, lets just pretend that the thread was called "How can we express our contempt at the leaders of G8?" and with a blank canvas from this moment onwards, please put forward your thoughts, ideas, feelings and responses to the G8 summit Moth. Guide us and advise us as to which point of entry would be the best one to take, so as to avoid fixating on the meal they ate, as we have done so foolishly in the recent past...

Kuz - highlighting obnoxiousness is about important to us as Max Mosley's particular brand of kink is to F1.

Did you honestly not think they were obnoxious before?

  • dirtydesign0

    I'm going to lunch.

  • Llyod0

luckily americans can hibernate through the winters

  • Spookytim0

"Kuz - highlighting obnoxiousness is about important to us as Max Mosley's particular brand of kink is to F1"

No No No NO Its nothing like it.

Item 1. Cars go round a track at great expense in a rich man's sport of no global consequence. One of the top names in that sport is exposed for nazi sex games. Whether that is any of our business or not is currently under debate, but the impact of car racing OR of one man's nazi sex games on the state of the world is negligiable, almost nil.

    Item 2.
Many many people starve while others eat heartily. A gathering of the rich and powerful 'intends' to sort this out, and the cynical view would

hang on... you;re a troll aren't you. NOBODY is this bewildering and foggy without a concerted effort.

I am leaving the thread at this point as I am clearly being suckled by an activity leech.

  • kelpie0

he's not a troll Tim, he's a valued member suffering from a form of disillusionment which turns otherwise good men into despicable Tories.

I fear this phenomenon may really kick our country in the balls soon for lack of a viable alternative.

    • I mean, fuck it, I'm voting Scot Nat next time out.kelpie
  • kelpie0

^ ps. of course most of the problem lies with condescending lefty neo liberal guardianistas. like me.

  • kelpie0

absolutely; I myself am a well know right wing socialist confusitator
