  I generally just ask my accountant to work some magic for me.

  I don't know about the specific laws in your area but here if you live in a space (commercially zoned or not) it defaults to the max 25% rule for claiming rent.

  Claim what you want but the more you claim the more they notice. Simple.

  I got bit in the ass to the tune of about $650 many years ago, was all I needed to make sure my taxes are always on the up and up. I never thought that not claiming a few weeks worth of work would come back to haunt me 4 years later.
