im looking for a particular designer who's name i dont know. The work was advertising showing particular athletes or people with a nostalgic ring of glowing movement surrounding the people. Does anyone remember seeing designs like that?

I know first hand about the industry + criticizing is one thing, changing it is another. Try convincing a boardroom of 45-55 year old senior Marketing VP's with little diversity that YOU are the answer...ain't easy Llyod... (sic)
