There's a nice sushi spot around there. Hit it up last fall with some NTers (and other people)... however, can't remember the name.

abode on ocean ave is amazing (and sure to get you laid). it is a little pricey, but shouldn't be too punitive if you don't do wine/dessert.

axe is good like tech vector said. (cool, hip, green)
Hal's steakhouse on Abbot kinney, too. (good, more male..lol)I would go to Abbot Kinney anyways rather
than 3rd street, if you're trying to get somewhere with that lady....

Hooters... but they won't turn the sound up on UFC fights so don't ask.
But for real, don't have a place set. Use that scene to walk around, talk, look at the dif. places/menus and make it appear it's a spur of the moment decision based on how the evening is going at that moment. Everyone does the date/eat thing, so why rush to dinner then fumble about what to do next. Go to the apple store and any other store there that's got something interesting, see what she picks up or says " that's cool". you never know when you can use that info later. Good luck

If sticking to the Promenade is a must and under a Houston's budget is a requirment...
Bravo (on 3rd street prom) is decent Italian not expensive.
Ye Olde Kings Head has great Fish & Chips and English pub vibe... but not too bar-ish and not tacky either.

Barney's Beanery? Not too classy, but decent enough food and you can definitely get her drunk.

My favorite restaurant at Third Street Promenade is "Monsoon." It's a little on the pricey side, but worth it. My second fave is The Gaucho Grill. You could never go wrong with those 2 restaurants.
