I showed this to my lady, (she's is a total clubber likesey) and she was absolutely shocked he he, she said the same as me you should feel like the person is actually part of the show, she also pointed out that his fingers aren't even moving half the time. What a bozo.

And chossy, there also these guys:
which I do consider in a way musicians as they use the turntable as an instrument.
- Scratching sounds shit though... the sound of turntablalism died in the 80s... the best djs can do it, but use it sparinglyjohnnyrebs
- Meeklo0
I think he is a genius.
The guy probably gets paid to do that, everyone is dancing what is the big deal? People don't know.. People only care about the name when it comes to Djing, there is usually 5 or 6 people next to the dj booth that knows what's up everyone else is having a great time.

Thats bullshit, I love the music when it's good when I'm seeing bands and DJ's but I also want to feel like they are contributing something to the experience and this man does not. I often watch the drummers in bands as they look mental half the time :D

It's no fucken wonder that this happens with the sort of fame that SuperStarDJs have, it is totally fucken ridiculous the magnitude of hero worship that gets handed out to some of these cats.
Back in the day, I used to play records for people at parties - when people used to say "oooh, you're a DJ?!?!?!" as if it was something special..... I'd always reply:
"All I do is play records that somebody much more talented than me recorded" and that is pretty much all there is to it.I don't understand the outrage here, the music is pish anyway but the fact is that these "DJs" are hyped to fuck.

Is it me or is Hookie starting to look like Alan Rickman these days! Can't say I've got a problem with the fake Djing, I wish more so called celebrity Dj's would have used tapes, I had the unfortunate pleasure of witnessing Boy George take to the decks once, apart from the music being sh*te his mixing was so bad, it was embarrassing!
The real embarrassment is why does he adopt the Ian Curtis lost in music style dance moves, he looks like he is getting a shock off the equipment!!!

Come off it ^
People obviously do know - hence this thread and all the shit that is flying around on the internet about him being a fake. It's actually quite easy to tell when someone isn't doing very much.
And as far as only caring about the name goes – if you go to see a specific DJ it's because of the style of music they play, not because there might pack out a venue.

He could have come out and mixed great tunes badly and have come away with my respect, instead of playing music he obviously knows nothing about
- chossy0
I don't think thats fair MX, some DJ's are incredibly talented and can work beats together like you couldn't imagine and can grab an adience by the balls and bring them to heaven and back by juggling tunes and beats they have created, it's a very difficult thing to do in my opinion. Musicians get worshipped all the time.

last night a dj saved my life.

how can a douche like that be a dj
- DaveO0
End of the day, like I've said on here before, people make music but it's DJs who get it out to people – imagine if there was only live shows and no DJs....there'd be much less music around (and fuck all to do for half the population).
As for DJ talent, the whole 'how well can you mix' argument is only a quarter of the battle. How many guitarists have you seen play that are technically excellent but play such loony stuff you'd never be into it? All about finding the right tunes and playing them well. DJing is fucking good fun!

Nothing pisses me off more that someone who is being a douchbag and getting away with it. *sigh
- Meeklo0
Trust me when I say most people dont know.
The 5 guys you see moving their heads next to the booth, are Djs checking technique, everyone else in the party doesn't know (unless they have that CD) I think this guy is a living homage to pollution is going on these days, where if you have 2 turntables and 5 records you can call yourself a Dj.- where the fuck do you go clubbing?kelpie
- Well I don't go clubbing anymore, I saw the scene in the early 90s from 40 people to 1000s, now I'm mostly doing visuals so on my time off I rather do something quietMeeklo

I wasn't having a go, just saying that your opinion is naive.
So anyone with a computer and a graphics program can be a designer can they?
- Its appears so Rainator - it appears so....Anthony_Turner

This is proper twattery.
Indeed

In hois defense, he is about 76 years old these days.
Haha, I love how he keeps puffing his cheeks like "Phooo this is 'ard work, I'd hand over a kidney for a good sit down"
- DaveO0
The BEST thing, is that the CD came free on mixmag and had an actual 'free cd with mixmag' jingle on it. How do you go from Joy Division, to that?!?!?
