In late May, I'll be attending a family wedding in Minnesota. My wife, son (5yrs) and I will be making a road trip out of it. We've never been through ID, MO, WY and much of SD.
Good people of NT/QBN, I am asking if you'd have any recommendations of sights and/or lodgings you particularly liked. We may be camping for part of the way if the weather is good, as it might be in late May. We won't be in a rush to get there and will likely take 3-4 days each way, stopping often.
Of course, we'll visit the Black Hills and Rushmore, but what else? We'll likely drive to MN on 90, but are open to alternate routes if there is reason to.
Any good tips?

late may? yellowstone (low crowds) & badlands for sure (cooler temps). devil's tower and the black hills are fantastic too.
ever spend much time in idaho check sawtooth national forest. it was going to be a national park, but they didn't want the crowds. i'd love to get to idaho.
Mo, was that to be MT? if it is montana, get yr ass up to glacier national park. hopefully the road will be open as it is truly one of the greatest places on earth.

If I was in that area I'd like to check out Pipestone, MN
"The Great Pipestone Quarries of Minnesota have been a special place or sacred site for American Indian Tribal people for over 1,000 years. Many nations of people came to these quarries; including the Sac-Fox, Otto, Mandan, Kiowa, Hidatsa, Dakota, Lakota, Cheyenne and Ojibwa as well as many other Native American tribes."

If you likes the guitars, Gibson is headquartered in Bozeman MT. You can tour the factory - just like Mr. Rogers would do.
